What kind of snacks (and drinks) do you bring into DL with you? Which ones hold up throughout the day (like chips wouldn't be good since the bag would likely get smashed) and keep you satisfied through the day? We will purchase some stuff to snack on in the parks but I plan on bringing some snacks in too.

We did fruit snacks, dried fruit, and crackers. Not sure what else. For drink we each had our water bottle and I got the indiv packs of kool aid and flavored it for DD. that way I could just add water to her waterbottle and add the packs of kool aid.

I don't remember packing snacks before but this time there will be several small children. I guess my question is what snacks are ALLOWED in DL in your backpack as apposed to a locker?

Also do they allow unopened water bottles?

we bring sting cheese (we have one of those baby bottle coolers to keep it cool), granola bars, fruit snacks, dry cereal, nuts.
we also bring milk boxes that don't need refrigerating(just got a great deal on 2 hershey's choc. milk ones for ~$11 at amazon)
we freeze water bottles in the hotel and bring them so they are cold all day and often will put the string cheese in that bag so it stays cool.

Our snacks are usually supplements for stuff we buy in the park. Some of the things we have carried, usually not all at once. Water. Crystal light flavor packets for the water. Occasionally a can of soda. Apples. Ritz crackerfuls. Individual serving size bags of peanuts. Pringles (they don't get crushed). Granola bars. Tuna lunch kit (not lately, but younger DS used to be awfully picky, so it was nice to have this if he wouldn't eat what everyone else was eating.) Little boxes of raisins or pouches of fruit snacks. Ziploc bags of pretzels, goldfish crackers, or dry cereal. (Afraid there's a lot of junk food; vacation is an opportunity to eat stuff the kids don't normally have for snack at home.) Sometime during every trip to DLR, we also usually purchase a big bag of kettle corn from DtD, a loaf of French bread at DCA, and some sort of treat for sharing from one of the candy shops. Then we portion this out and carry it around with us as snacks for two or three days too.

...beef jerky, granola bars, trail mix

This is along our plans as well. Snacks that are easy to pack but also have plenty of protein to keep us going. Nuts are perfect. Cheese strings or babybels packed with a small ice pack. Granola bars definitely.

We get to our hotel at around 5pm. Our first stop after that?... Target! Stocking up on the snack foods.

Snacks are most definately allowed!:thumbsup2

We always bring cans of soda (the soda is the parks is SO expensive!), water bottles, PB&J sand for DS, applesauce cups, the smaller sized can fruit (real fruit can get bruised too easily!) with the pop lids, jerky, crackers, PB pretzels etc. I also make muffins ahead of time and freeze at home then pack the morning of our trip. We then have homemade muffins to eat in the mornings while waiting in lines.

I also try and bring in a few surprise treats for DS. That way if he's getting cranky and tired of waiting in a long line, I can whip out a Fruitbu (organic fruit roll up) and I don't have to buy all those yummy looking but SO bad for you treats in the parks. Although we do try and allow one treat per day, it is vacation after all, we usually end up splitting it between all 3 of us. We eat mostly organic/natural foods so the food in the parks can really do a number on us, especially DS.

The only things that Disney doesn't allow are large coolers, hard sided rolling coolers, glass bottles and alcohol.

Get creative...you can bring in much more then just snacks!:goodvibes

We bought one large water bottle at home, and shared it. We refilled it either in a drinking fountain if it was during the day, or the sink in our hotel at night. I also packed a few different flavors of Crystal Light single serve packets so we wouldn't get sick of having just plain water.

For snacks, we brought a bag of peanuts, PB&J sandwich crackers, and some 100 calorie packs in different types. I think we had cheez its, choco chip cookies, and a chex mix type thing. The only thing that got squished at all was the cheez its, but not too badly.

Also, whenever we had something saveable (i.e didn't need refridgeration, etc) left from a meal or snack, we wrapped it up. For example, the second night we had dinner at La Brea and both got breadbowls. They were too much for us and neither of us touched the extra bread chunks. Wrapped them up in our napkins and had them for a snack the next day.

Beef jerky, nuts, usually a banana or apple. I tend not to bring sweet snacks because that is usually what we end up buying at the park. I usually bring a water bottle or two and a juice box also.

I don't think dl minds you bringing in snacks because they know no matter how much you bring you most likely will still end up buying food from the park. I know we do.

I am a Nazi about my kids' nutrition and I am also a fan of saving money.

So for snacks, we bring: Horizon milk boxes, our own water in a refillable bottle, 100% juice boxes, dried fruit (cherries, blueberries, apple crisps, etc.), fresh fruit (bananas, grapes, strawberries, even watermelon, etc.), cheese and crackers, veggies with ranch dressing, salami, turkey, yogurt, PB&J, granola bars, etc.

We order from Vons and have it delivered. The boys eat a couple slices of turkey and some fruit in the stroller on the way to the park while we zoom out of GCH and stand in line for rope drop. I make PB&J in the morning and put them in a big Ziploc that goes on the bottom of one of the strollers for a snack. The fresh fruit is put in a plastic container that I reuse after washing in the sink of the hotel room (I bring dishwashing soap and a sponge). Everything else is single-serving type packaging.

We are eating meals in the park, the restaurants, or from room service, but I am not big on buying a water for $5 or ridiculously-priced snacks. We use two umbrella strollers so it's easy to use one as food storage. It takes more work to do it this way, but at least my kids have food at their disposal and I don't have to pay big bucks.

We took muffins, granola bars, cereal bars, cheese sticks, gogurts, pretzels, fruit snacks, dried apples, cherrios, gold fish, fresh cut apples, fresh grapes, bananas, lemonaid juice boxes, bottle water, salami, crackers. We had a little of everything and I tried to change it up each day a little. I even bought a couple lunchables (which I never ever do at home) and those were a hit too. Our hotel fridge was stocked pretty nicely between the fruit, cheese, yogurt, etc.

I took with us a dishpan, dishsoap, sponge, a small cutting board and paring knife and I cut up apples, and other fruit and things, and it was great also for washing DD's sippy cups. I also took a bunch of ziploc baggies for things. At home we eat relatively healthy and at disney we just seem to splurge on junk so I like to have some semi healthy snacks with us to just pop out when she would get hungry or start getting fussy, it was a great distraction. Also found out tihs time, DH and I snacked more too, the pretzels were really popular with DH. We hit trader joes and target and stocked up on whatever we could that looked good.

Thanks for all of the great ideas!

I think you can bring anything that is not alcohol or in glass. We have brought in water bottles opened and unopened before. Oh I also think you can only bring assembled sandwiches in? Not sure on that one since we have never tried to bring sandwiches assembled or not....the food in DL is way too good to be eating homemade sandwiches for lunch :rotfl: We definitely need snacks to tide us over between meals though!

You can take in ready made sandwiches but not the fixings, they have to be already made.
We take water bottles, never had a problem.
We take granola bars, crackers, fruit. We take ziploc bags and put the snacks in them and it's easier to carry them. :)

We bring just about anything that won't spoil. Breakfast tends to be fruit - bananas, apples, etc. Kids love uncrustables at lunch. We bring sandwiches and chips, and just put the chips in a throw-away ziploc container. I save room to buy snacks usually at the park, but I've bought fruit bars and crackers that have also come in handy.

Like others I bring my own drink flavor packets with me so I have a variety of options. Most counter services will give you free ice water if you ask. Way better then spending $3.00 each time your thirsty. Other then that, I bring granola bars.

We usually only purchase 1 meal in the park each day. The rest we bring in or eat in the hotel.

Snacks:
Granola Bars
Dried Fruit
Fruit Snacks
Applesauce cups
Squeeze yogurt
String Cheese
Laughing Cow Cheese
Crackers (goldfish, wheat thins...)
Bananas
Apples
Juice Boxes
Soda
Water

We take in some "special" snacks we don't normally buy like Teddy Grahams or Smores Goldfish so it is fun for the kids. But mostly we try to stick with what we usually eat so everyone's bellys don't feel bad at the end of the day.

This thread fascinates me! Next time there is a thread about Disney changing food prices, I think I am going to have to reference this thread. It's amazing what you all bring in with you!:rotfl:

When we went to WDW we took, hmmm, thinking.... Nope. Nothing.

We are on vacation! We each have a camelback for cold water and that's it. Yes, yes, I know it saves money, etc..., but part of being on vacation (for us) is enjoying things we normally don't, not having to worry about shopping, packing, preparing each day. Just different strokes for different folks. Always fascinating to read how other people do things.

ETA: Okay, just remembered that I did indeed pack my little almond snack packs because if my levels drop too low I need protein quickly, but that was it. Honest. :)

We have young kids so we always bring plenty of snacks. We usually bring some fruit (grapes, sliced apples, etc.), a few granola bars, goldfish or pretzels and water bottles. Once in a while we pack lunch too, but usually just eat lunch there.
