teaspoon for me and tablespoon for everyone else. Same amount of food for everyone though.

I hate teaspoons, way too small!

I agree. I use the tablespoon/soup spoons for cereal. I don't eat ice cream. I think I'd use a tea spoon for that though. I use the bigger ones for soup too.

But they aren't serving sized spoons.

tablespoon or soupspoon for cereal and teaspoon for ice cream.

We call salad forks "baby forks" in my house. They are rarely used, except when all of the regular forks are dirty. Then we resort to "baby forks". I think they earned the nickname when my DS 12 was a little guy....my older DS would always give his brother the salad fork, or "baby fork"...;)

I always get mad (well, not mad really but you know) at DH when he gives me the salad fork for dinner. I always ask "can't I have a big girl fork."

Teaspoon for ice cream or pie. Soup spoon for cereal or soup.

The cereal and soup are too liquid to put a reasonable amount onto a teaspoon. You need a larger spoon to hold the liquid type of things.

For some reason all we have are soup spoons:confused3 I hate using tablespoons though. Our soup spoons are not nearly as big as tablespoons but aren't as small as teaspoons. So I guess I find them just right

I actually love spoons. I have a whole collection. Not the fancy ones they sell in gift shops, and I don't keep them in a glass case or anything. I keep them in my silverware drawer and use them. I love dessert spoons or esspresso spoons. Tiny spoons. I will admit that if I am at a resturaunt and the spoon is interestingly shaped or extremely little, it may find its way home with me. :) (Ok, I'm a spoon thief! I'm a terrible person!)

So, you will often find me eating anything with small spoons or funny shaped ones.

I love spoons!

There's a reason it's called a tablespoon and the small ones are called teaspoons...they're for tea. Tablespoons are for eating with. Basically I'm saying your DH isn't the weird one :rotfl2:

I always use a small fork and a small spoon. I have a very dainty mouth :rotfl2:

Tablespoon if there's no soup spoon. Soup spoon is usually more rounder than a tablespoon. A serving spoon is about 2x the size of a tablespoon.

Don't know why you didn't have tablespoon on your poll!?!?

We use teaspoons.

At our house, we have teaspoons, soup spoons, table spoons, bigger serving spoons, grapefruit spoons and tall teaspoons for stirring iced tea.

After typing all that out, I'm starting to think we have way too many spoons. :rotfl:

When you say the large spoon, do you mean the larger spoon in a place setting like this? The one that's the same size as your dinner fork?

If so, that's the one I use. You may choose to use it as a serving spoon, but it's part of the place setting and was meant to eat with. It's not really a serving spoon. Your husband is not doing anything weird. ;)

:lmao: I almost died when I saw the OP call that tablespoon a serving spoon :rotfl2:

(I'm flabbergasted that so many people don't know that that's what that larger spoon in their place setting is).

Me TOO!!! I am ASTOUNDED that so many people do not know what a tablespoon is.   :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

It is an actual unit of measure in cooking & baking. Larger than a teaspoon, but not serving spoon size. Doesn't matter if it is round like a soup spoon or oval like a "normal" tablespoon. Have you ever seen a recipe say, "add 3 servings spoons of butter to a recipe"???

I used to do catering and a serving spoon is what the waiters use at buffet tables to scoop out and serve a whole portion of food to one person. One serving spoon size of mashed potatoes would be about 6 teaspoons full. A serving spoon is also the size one uses to serve salad. When you Google "serving spoon" they look like this:

Also: Oval serving spoon on left, tablespoon on right:

Dessert spoons. So bigger than a teaspoon and smaller than a tablespoon

But we are a Anglo/French family which might explain why ;)

Yes, we use those too, for fancy catering jobs. This is a diagram of a formal dinner place setting where the dessert spoon is is typically laid out at the top above the dinner plate. It also has the two different spoon sizes: teaspoon and oval soup spoon.

I have never seen a round soup spoon used at any of the various catering companies or events I've been to. The exception might be if the soup has clams still in the shell and the round soup spoon is easier to scoop up the whole shell as it is the same roundness.

I usually use a soup spoon/tablespoon. Sometimes I use a teaspoon. I especially like the soup spoon/tablespoon with my cereal in the morning when I'm running late so I can take bigger bites :rolleyes1

Our house is divided by big spoon people (2) and small spoon people (2). :rotfl:

Contrary to popular belief, I have a very small mouth. :teeth: It's only my bite that can be large. :lmao:

For cereal I use the soup/cereal spoon and for ice cream I use the teaspoon.
