what size Duffy to buy?

My 8 year old used his own money on the last trip to buy a Duffy and I bought him 3 outfits for it. I was concerned that it would just sit in the toy box as he is rapidly growing out of any kind of stuffed animal.
Nope. He doesn't get played with during the day but Duffy gets tucked in with him every night and was squished into his backpack to go to Nana's house last night.
The outfits get used way less so he probably would have been fine with the 12 inch but he loves that bear and I'm glad we got it
