What size Carry On's are allowed for DCL?

What size carry on luggage is allowed through security on the cruise? We last sailed in 2008. Can we bring a hiking backpack to bring on water and toiletries?

Needs to fix through an x-ray machine like those used for airport security.

Have on that is tall but narrow. We are driving to the port, won't be flying. Is there a size restriction or only width?

Approximately 9x14x22 will fit through the scanners. It will need to lay on the belt to go through.

We take a rolling backpack, actually 2 sometimes and they work great.

We take what would typically be a carry on for airline travel (smaller suitcase) onto the ship because I like to unpack immediately and have never had a problem.

In my experience, specifically at Galveston, the scanners are larger than airport security size and you can carry a larger bag on if you want. It fit the middle size of a standard 3 piece rolling luggage set which is much larger than airport carry-on size. If you're driving, it's a good opportunity to use that middle size which in my experience seldom gets used!
