You are riding the monorail from the TTC? We want to surprise our dd with this trip (she's only four) with the walk down Main Street up to the castle. I don't think she'll have any idea where we are until we walk right up to the castle. So I want to keep her back to the castle on the monorail. Anyone know??? :)

If you get on the monorail at TTC...as you approach the MIK...the castle (and basically everything else) will be on the left side of the forward movement of the train.

HTH :)

I dont think that will work. I believe on the monorail they welcome you to the walt disney world resort. I believe she would know.

If memory serves MK is on the right side of the monorail if you are coming from TTC and on the left if you are coming from the resorts (Contempory, Poly or Grand Floridian). But that being said unless she is unconcious it would be hard to hide the fact you are in WDW. There are huge depictions of Mickey Mouse everyplace and as said before the announcement welcomes you to the place. You may have to be content with surprising her in the parking lot or before entering the parking lot.

The express monorail runs counterclockwise from the TTC to Magic Kingdom -- so the park itself is on your right hand side from your perspective sitting facing the direction of the vehicle.

I think the true answer to this question is both sides - b/c the track is a circle - you will start out with it on the right side of the train and as you loop around past the grand floridian - it will then be on the left

if you are coming on a resort monorail - which is possible during peak hours from the TTC - it will be on the left and as you come out of the Contemporary and make the turn it will then be on your right

I have to agreee that if you are planning your surprise for inside the castle you will be disappointed - as you drive in - you are BOMBARDED with Mickey and Disney and everyone on the monorail will be talking about it and I would imagine someone on the monoral might engage her in conversation - with the opener being - is this your first trip to Disney World?

I would try to find a better way to surprise her!

Have you considered very dark sunglasses or a blindfold? :rotfl: Just tell her you are going to play pin the tale on the donkey! :teeth:

Just as you come onto Disney property alone there will be the huge Welcome to Walt Disney World sign with a giant picture of Mickey welcoming you onto property. My son has been several times (he's 3) and last time we went - last October when he was still 2, as soon as we got up to the huge welcome sign with Mickey he started going crazy (in a good way) :)

Also, if she knows that Disney World is in Florida...she's going to inevitably hear that is where you're flying, on the plane. Then again, you may be able to keep her preoccupied enough for her to miss these clues. At any rate, I guess it's still worth a shot for you to try to keep her from seeing the castle... Then again... you might get a better picture of her on the monorail as she spies the castle and starts guessing where she is!

after reading teh begginning of the thread i can see that she is only trying to suprise her with the castle you know when it's your 1st time and you just wont to get to magic kingdom to see what the castle is like in person
(this is what i think anyway)
for teh question asked i dunno because we haven't gone since december 2003
