What should we do on arrival?

Arriving Saturday around noon (first time). We are planning not to use our tickets for parks that day. We have PS for O'hana's at 6:30. We are renting a car. We might use the pool. What are our other options.

Also, after O'hanna's was thinking of visiting the Boardwalk because I heard there is "lots of entertainment" going on there. Would that be a better choice than to view Wishes from the Poly or should I wait to see Wishes until I can hear the music better. Thanks guys.

I'm assuming that you are staying at the Polynesian. So, you could jump on the monorail and do a monorail tour. You could jump off at the Grand Floridian and walk around and check it out, then do the same at the Contemporary. Lots to see there. Then you could take the boat over to either WL or Fort Wilderness and check them out. You could stay on the monorail and get off at TTC and switch over to the Epcot line and just stay on it the whole way.

You could drive down to Downtown Disney after dinner. That's always a fun way to start your trip. Or play mini-golf. Or just hang at the Polynesian. I believe the music from Wishes might be piped in so you can hear it. When we were there last summer there was construction going on so they couldn't do it but it was still terrific watching Wishes from the beach area. Stay in the pool area, with a nice beverage and watch the MK. I love it. Have a good time whatever you do tho.

I would stick around the Poly. By the time you get your stuff all unpacked and organized it is going to be 2pm. I would go down to the pool for a while then come back and get ready for dinner. Then go down to the beach to watch Wishes. When we were there they piped the music from Wishes onto the beach.

we'll be arriving to our resort by about 11am--check OUT time for most our plan is to SHOP at DTD and get all of the shopping out of the way. we'll go for a swim before bed--get nice and tired out and showered up fresh for the morning! but, whatever you decide to do, you're in WDW--you'll have fun!!

All righty then....let's not even go down the 'using the pool at a resort you're not staying at' street. But, I don't think a lot of people have a problem with watching Wishes from the beach. There were never a lot of folks out there last summer. Otherwise, everything else is doable. The pool at POR is pretty terrific also. Have to say that I actually prefer it to the Volcano Pool. Seems to be a lot fewer people there. The boat to DD should be up and running from POR. That's fun. So, maybe you could hang out at your pool, at POR, change for dinner at Ohana, then go back to POR and take the boat to DD. If you don't want to take your car out, you could just take a bus from POR to MK and then take either the monorail or the boat to the Polynesian for dinner and then reverse it. Or grab a bus to DD from the Polynesian and take the boat back from DD to POR. Oh, the possibilities are endless in WDW!!

-- You could rent a boat (one of those little individual speed boats that fit two people...lots of fun!)

-- Go shopping at DTD

-- stroll on the boardwalk

-- visit other resorts just to walk around and check them out

-- see if your hotel has a tour...I'm going to take the WL tour, although I don't know if all the resorts do that. WL also has a list of hidden mickies throughout that resort also.

-- I don't know if you would be able to make it in time after your dinner PS, but FW has outdoor movies which sounds like a lot of fun.

-- Take a ride on the monorail just to get in the 'Disney mood'.

-- I usually just relax at my resort's pool since the rest of the days are usually packed with other things to do.

One more vote for DTD. We always do that on our first day. We also have dinner there but you have that taken care of. The Boardwalk is nice but it's probably better of couples without kids.

my kids LOVE the boardwalk! carnival games?! GOTTA PLAY 'EM! LOL! jugglers? sword swallowers? man on stilts? LOVED 'EM ALL! and, best of all... ice cream! LOL!

I would just have lunch, unpack, use the pool, explore your resort, and then head over to the Poly for dinner. You might go a little early so you can look around the Poly. After dinner, if you all feel like it, watch Wishes from the Poly beach. Then go to bed so you can get up early the next morning and be at the park at opening.

The Boardwalk is fun, but I'd save it for another time, like when you are going to be at Epcot/MGM.
