What should we do between driving experience and Chef Mickey

We are staying off property. DH is doing the Exotic Driving Experience at 8:00, the person I talked to at Disney said 30 min but that does not sound like enough time but either way... We will all be joining him. We have a reservation at Chef Mickey at 11:15. What should we do inbetween with the 6yo and 4yo, and my 77yo Mom? Thanks for suggestions.

ETA: Crap, just found out from a tour rep that it takes 2.5 hours! So there is no time between. So, if he is really going to be there that long, any idea where we should go for about 1 1/2 hours because we would be bored out of our minds. Maybe one of the closest hotels?

One thing to keep in mind is that if it rains at any time that morning, they have to wait until the track dries. They don't have a track drier, they just drive around it in pickups until it dries. DD did the ride along in October, and we had to wait probably an extra hour while the track dried.

I am not sure how it works with the Exotic, but both times when DD and DH did the ride along it was first person suited up is the first person to go. I would get there a few minutes before they open.

There is not much to do there - there is a very small gift shop, and they sell a few snacks, sodas and coffee. There are park benches and chairs outside to sit on while you wait. There is some shade. If you have to wait long, you WILL be bored!

It is not that far from the track to the TTC - if your husband can drop you all off there, you could ride the monorail around to the resorts and check them all out while you wait. Maybe take some time to shop in the gift shops? We especially liked the one in the Poly, and you could pick up a good cup of coffee.

I say take the time to tour the Poly and the Grand Floridian and then finally take the monorail over to the Contemporary. They are all lovely hotels with shops and beautiful public areas. An hour and a half would be great to take the resort monorail loop and have a look around.:)
