What should we do at Universal on NYE?

I will be at Universal on NYE (staying at RPR) with my spouse and 2 boys ages 8 and 10. Can anyone offer any recommendations on what to do on NYE?

I've heard there are fireworks. Where are they and can we see them from the hotel if we decide to skip the craziness of the park late that night? Do the parks close right at midnight that night?

Last, NYE is the last night of our vacation. Anywhere special you recommend to eat to celebrate the New Year? Something fun for the kids.

Fireworks will be going off from Citwalk, USF, and IOA all at the same time. It's a big celebration where you'll be able to see them from just about anywhere.

The parks are open till 1am that night, and there are many who will be getting to the parks later in the evening and staying for fireworks.
