What should my Daughter tell her dad?

I think she should tell her Dad how she feels and meet the new girlfriend too. We all have to do things we don't want, that is part of being a young adult.

I totally agree.

This is what it needs to say:

DAD,

I am not ready to meet your new girlfriend. Good Luck in your new relationship, I will let you know when I feel that I am ready to meet this special person now in your life.

Thank you for understanding, I love you....

Plain, Simple, and to the point. Why complicate the situation even further?

Also, the first and only time my daughter met her dad's first girlfriend, he told her that they were going to Kansas City for the day (about a 2 hour drive) but he told her what they were really going to Kansas City for on their way there. She was 16 years old. He should have told her from the beginning that she was going to meet his girlfriend. I did think it was strange that her dad was planning to travel that far and spend that much time together which is not the norm for their visits together.

Because of the type of father he is, the song that always comes to my mind thinking about the future of their relationship is 'Cat's in the Cradle' by Harry Chapin.

Yikes, that song really gets to me... it's so sad.

Hope everything turns out okay...
