My brother in law is getting married and for some reason, I cannot ever decide what to wear to a winter wedding. It's at 2:30 in the afternoon and it's at an inn. Any suggestions? Can I wear a black dress with a colored wrap or something else to put some color in it? Help....

Yes - most definetly!

Also, consider a dressy pant suit - maybe even goucho pants, with knee boots.... very in right now. :cool1:

I might wear a long black skirt with boots and a dressy/pretty sweater.

When is the wedding? I would say that is too dark for summer, but winter it would be fine.

I probably would only wear black to an evening wedding.

Other than that, I think you have a lot of options.

Please share some options you are thinking of, because I'm stumped.

I think you will definitely be fine wearing black to the wedding. I have been to alot of weddings lately and many woman are wearing either a simple black dress or suit.

The black sounds great. I would do black/pink, black/green or black/blue.

The only thing I have against the black is growing up with 3 wedding rules: No white, black, or red. White and red so as not to upstage the bride, and black because it looks as though you are "mourning" the marriage. That said, I definitely do not follow this rule for evening weddings and frequently wear black skirts with sparkly shirts, or beaded sweaters or something. For daytime though, I would be a little hesitant, just because my mom was big on "the rules" when I was a kid.

Funny though, when she initially went shopping with my grandmother for her dress, they came home with an offwhite pantsuit. Honestly, it wasn't a big deal to me at all and I didn't say anything. My mom has dementia, so her "rules" didn't come to mind...when dad mentioned something, the poor thing was so upset and they returned the dress the next day.

I've heard that, but I don't the black and white rule. I've caitered weddings before, adn I wear black and white. I'll also wear black pants to most formal events (not skirt/dress formal, but not jeans casual)

I think a black dress and a wrap would be fine...in fact, I have warn a similar outfit to several weddings.
