What should I expect on an October visit?

I'm so happy to say we're going for a mid-October stay this year. The addiction has worsened; I'm thrilled! I'd love any input about weather, crowds, or Mickey's Not So Scary Party. We've always gone over Spring Break and I have a feeling this will be quite different. Thanks in advance October visitors! :)

I hope things will be fine in Oct. I will be there the first week of Oct. I think one year I went in Oct and it had slowed down. I think it will be much slower than spring break.

We went in the first wk of Oct. last year and it was good. There were more people there than I expected, BUT we did not have any really long waits for rides. It's definitely less crowded than summer, but there is still a crowd there. Just follow the touring plans and use FP and you shouldn't have over a 15 min wait for any ride. It was pretty hot when we were there still 85-90 everyday and pretty humid and we had lots of intermittent rain so take ponchos. I liked the rain b/c it cleared people out. We had a great time. We also did MNSSHP and really enjoyed it. It was lots of fun for the kids. Have a great time!

October is a beautiful time to go. The crowds are very manageable, the weather is usually gorgeous - it's fabulous. DH and I can't wait for our trip - 10/13-10/20/06 at POR.

We have been twice in Oct and the crowds are very managable. The weather has been great- hot and sunny with short periods of rain. We enjoyed BB on both trips and MNSSHP. The Halloween party was a highlight of each trip.

We are planning a trip over Easter break in '07. What are the crowds like? Any tips? We are leaving Wed of Holy week. We have only been to WDW in early Dec 2X and Oct 2X and crowds were fairly light.

I think you'll love WDW in OCt!! Have a great time. We'll be there from 9/30 - 10/6 at BCV!! :Pinkbounc

We went to the 1st week in Oct and loved it. The days were nice and warm. The nights on the other had cool off quickly. Don't forget the sweat or do forget the sweats and have to by a new sweatshirt. Have a great time.

Thanks for your post! We loved Easter - the crowds were huge, I guess, but we didn't know any better so we were just fine. Mickey and Minnie visit the hotels in their yellow Easter finery and give out candy for the kids. It was precious! We tend to not push it too much - just do as much as we feel in a good mood to do and then rest back at the hotel. I think that's the way to manage the crowds. Last year it was COLD too - we wore sweatshirts at night and still froze - and we're hardy Minnesotans! Thanks again! Lucky you - two trips to look forward to! El

We are going mid-Oct too! I'm hoping the crowds won't be too bad. We've become spoiled! I have never had to wait for a ride as an adult! We went once the week after New Year's - no waits - and last year the week of Sept. 9 - again not one wait in line. Sure there were short lines, but we never stood still...just kept on moving. Our luck has to run out sooner or later...

Thanks for the input everyone! I guess it will actually be warmer than when we go in the Spring. I don't think my Northern brain can process that info very well! I'm usually pulling out the mittens at that time. It will make the trip even better!

Can anyone tell me exactly what happens at MNSSHP? I take it it's worth the ticket price for many people... I'm hoping my DH will think so!

We're there 10/13-20 at the Poly. Should we get tickets soon? Any days better than others? We just started looking at ADR's too. I'm hoping with smaller crowds it won't be as necessary to book really early. Sorry for more questions - you know how it gets, I'm sure! Suddenly life has stopped - we're going to Disney! Gotta plan plan plan! :goodvibes

You can expect:

Great weather (or maybe an afternoon shower)
Smaller crowds
Earlier closings
New merchandise (2007)
Lines on Everest shorter
New Rides (Laugh 0 Lot)
Updates complete (Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.)
Easier ADRs

Have fun.

Let's hope it won't be this October that your luck runs out! I can't imagine no lines - I guess Spring break really IS crowded - we waited over an hour for the Dumbo ride both years. Blah! Hurrah for no lines! I'll cross my fingers! Oh - and bring a rain poncho - thanks everyone for that tip! :thumbsup2

October is great! Less crowded and it's warm enough to swim but not super hot like it is in September.
