What should I do with my car rental?

We are renting a car and driving up from WDW the morning of our Feb 13 cruise. I thought we would just park and pay because it is still cheaper than the shuttle (we got a great deal). But now that I think about it, why should I pay for something that I am not going to be using for 3 days...so my question is this: Where is there a National car rental desk that I can drop my car off at near the port? Has anyone ever done this same scenario before?

YES WE HAVE AND THE ANWSER IS ...
rent a car from AVIS this would be a one way rental
u can drop it off at the raddison hotel and take the free shuttle they provide over to the port, they will also pick u up after the cruise and take u back to get a rental for your return to airport

Look on dave's site www.dcltribute.com as he has extensive info on rental cars and locations. If I remember correctly, National is about 7 miles away from port and you'll need to hire a taxi to get to port.

On the other hand, Avis is at the Radisson, about 1 mile away, and they have a free shuttle to get to port. You can find a discount code on www.mousesavers.com for avis rentals. We got a midsize car for $45 one way. Just an option........:)

We are just going to park our rental at the port for this same cruise. Still worked out cheaper than a towncar from MCO to ASMo to the Port, back to the VWL and then to MCO.

I've been crunching the numbers and it is still working out cheaper for us too. Thanks for your reply! Did you rent through National? Is this your first Dis cruise? I am surprising my husband for his 40th. The kids are in on it and thrilled! Maybe we will see you there!!!!!

we parked our rental at the port....
i didn't even bother crunching the numbers...
whatever the difference might have been was worth it to me in terms of convenience...there's nothing more convenient than walking 5 feet to the car, piling everything in and heading right back to WDW...
in any case, we had the car for 3 weeks....3 days before the cruise and two and half weeks after the cruise...

We factored in the parking charge. We have a full size reserved (and a free upgrade to premium coupon stashed in my PassPorter) with Dollar that we got a sweet price on a couple of months ago. If I reserved it now, it would be $200 more! Yep, this is our first cruise.
