What should I do? Waitlist almost came through...

Hi everyone,

Please help me! We are staying at BWV (our first stay as members) from Aug 26 to Sept 4. We currently have a 1 bedroom preferred - the first 2 nights cash, the rest of the stay on points. However, we waitlisted all 9 nights for the standard view.

DVC called me today. They apparently have been pulling our rooms night by night (I know this because last week when I called they told me they had 4 of the 9 nights and that I should just keep waiting). When I called them back, they were offering me 8 of the 9 nights ... with the 1 missing night 8/30, which is right in the middle of my stay! I have no idea why they would even offer me this, so if someone can clue me in I would appreciate it.

We are not going to accept any stay that will make us move. What should I do here? If I accept and pay cash for the 1 night will we have to move?

If you're paying cash for the exact same room (1 bdrm preferred view), you shouldn't have to move. MS should be able to link all the reservations together.

Thanks Tamu but that's not the problem. The problem is that I want to change my reservation from preferred 1 br (which I have), to a standard 1 br for the whole time (no cash).

The problem is that MS offered me only 8 of the 9 nights I need for standard. So a cash room in a preferred view on the new reservation means I would move 3 times!~

Will they keep the waitlist open until they possibly get the last night?>

They will automatically keep the waitlist open until 30 days prior.

For future reference, when you do a waitlist you can request that they only do it if all the days are availalbe. That's what I did for Christmas a few years ago. If you do day by day, they do just what they did to you?

Can you do the non perferred view room on 8/30 on cash? How long did they give you to make the decision? At some point it either gets booked or doesn't. I always have mine on automatic so they just book.

Carol, I did ask them to put the waitlist in for 9 nights only. I know they had that in the system because when I called a week ago about another matter, they told me "Oh, I see we have 4 of the 9 nights on your waitlist. They haven't called you because they are waiting to see if they can get the other 5." So why did they call me when they only had 8?

My other concern is will they hold these 8 and wait for that one day in the middle to complete the request?

I did take your advice and ask if I can pay cash for that one night, and they told me they only had preferred view for cash, and would not guarantee that I would not have to move.

BTW, when I called DVC to ask these questions, I did not get the sense that the person I spoke to had any more of a clue than I did!
