OK, you guys were great helping me choose add on at VWL over SSR, but now here is another poll! :p

On waitlist for VWL for 70 points. (For those who don't know we have a love for the place.) Might be a wait here. (What is the most anyone has waited?) Looks like I will miss my banking deadline, too. (I might end up having to rent out points.)

But, I can add on now at my home at BCV. I would add on 50 points and if done very soon I can bank those points since we can't use them before the end of November.

I know the points are available at BCV, but I'm sure they won't last for too long. I don't want to be on the add on waitlist for VWL forever and then those BCV points come and go without me moving on it. Of course, 70 points at VWL will cover a 5 night stay in a studio during the summer. The add on of 50 at BCV instead will just give us enough points to add on a couple more nights each year and upgrade to a one bedroom on one of our trips.

Just adding on at my home at BCV would make things easy to keep track of, but waiting and adding on at VWL would give us the 11 month window for Christmas and springbreak or summer.

Any opinions? I could even use the MB at BCV and go with 100, but I'm really pushing this on hubby. 70 points at VWL is about the most I'm gonna get. He is content with our 150. I'm lucky he will even add on at this point. I think I've been driving him crazy and he is over it. Can you imagine?!? :p

Thanks everyone!

Shan...I voted to just keep waiting for VWL. It's what you really want. And I'm assuming that if you get the BCV points, you'll remove yourself from the VWL waitlist.

My choice would be to wait for VWL. If that never comes about, then you can hit the resale market for a small BCV or VWL contract when your finances allow for some more points.

Good luck....it's hard to pass on that bird in the hand, isn't it?:)

lenshanem,

I think you and I were seperated at birth. We must be driving our husbands crazy.

I, personally, would hate to watch those BCV pts go bye-bye and sit on the waitlist forever for VWL.

We were in a similar situation. We added on at BCV instead of SSR and took our names of the waitlist for VWL. Something just told me that we were going to be on that VWL waitlist forever and my guide said that it could be that way. So I do have some experience in your type of situation. We didn't want to have the price go up for the VWL pts while we were sitting on the waitlist.

I would really consider doing 100 at BCV. If I was going to do 50 I would seriously consider doing 100 to get the MB. I don't think you would regret it if finances allow. I think if you did 100 with MB your payments would be around 85.79 per month. Your VWL payments would be around $61.00, wouldn't they-assuming they come through anytime soon.

Sorry for getting you even more confused. I know you'll be happy with whatever you decide to do.

VWL is the smallest on-site resort at WDW. BCV is really hard to book. Couldn't you do some trading with a VWL owner who wants to stay at BCV?

I would wait for the VWL points. It's going to be very hard to see those Christmas lights at the lodge without a home there. Do you have any idea how long the wait list will be, or where you are on the list? I can totally understand the urge to have it all settled, as patience is not one of my best virtues! But I think I would wait, I hope to add on some day too, but I really want a different resort (and I love VWL) so that I'll have a home at seperate places. You never know what you'll desire when your kids are grown, or what your circumstances will be, and having options is always good.

Is it possible to find out where you are on the waitlist and use that to help you make your decision?

I have read several times that members were informed of where they are on the waitlist.

Hi guys. I called my guide today and left a message. He is out and won't be back until tomorrow.
When I first called to get put on VWL waitlist I was told probably 2 weeks. (That was on the 11th.) Then I called Monday I think to get info on BCV and SSR and was told VWL could be awhile. I asked how long and he told me the person he needed to talk to was out. After talking to hubby I called him back and told him we were passing on BCV and SSR and wanted to hold out for VWL.
So on my message today I told him I wanted to find out the status of the waitlist.

From what you've heard or think is there a good possibility these points could come through, could I end up on the waitlist for years, or even worse never get them unless I buy resale?
(I was planning on adding this onto our financing.)

The longer we wait the less it is worth it to me considering that the new contracts have longer dates.

Has anyone on here had any luck with the VWL waitlist for pts recently? I haven't seen anyone post regarding this.

You are right about too long of a wait outweighing the longer contracts and the chance to use MB on BCV. I think that is why it is so important to know where you are on the waitlist.

Do you know for sure that the BCV points are still available as of today?

Let us know what your guide says. I wouldn't want to wait for years only to go through price increases.

It doesn't sound like you want to do a resale and that adding onto your DVC financing is what you prefer right now. I think this also has some influence on how long you should wait.

I really hope you find out your spot on the waitlist.

I sent you a PM.

Shan, from everthing I've read, you will not be happy in the long run unless you buy VWL.

Good luck...

Wait for VWL. We purchased 100 points several months ago. We have 150 at VB, 100 at BCV and now 100 at VWL. We stayed a week at VWL last December and it was truly a magical place during the holidays. That's what convinced me I had to have points there. It would have been easier to buy more BCV points. As I understand it, there are fewer rooms at VWL than the other WDW DVC resorts, so it will be more difficult to find availability there. Especially during the Christmas holidays!! We had waitlisted and went day by day and the final ressie came in about two weeks before we were to leave for WDW. When we got there we were given a handicapped-accessible room because that's all that was left. They offered to transfer us to BCV, but I said "NO WAY". Soooo, if you really want to stay at VWL, especially during the holidays, hold out for VWL points. They will come through sooner or later. Then every few years, if you want to add on in 25 points increments, you can add on to either BCV or WVL until you feel you have an adequate number of points for your family. And try to talk your guide into giving you the MB on the 100 VWL points. Never hurts to beg!!!

Hi Mona. Were you on an add on waitlist then for VWL or no? And if so, how long were you on it?

They gave you MB there? My guide told me no way.

And did you try to book Christmas at VWL right at the 7 month window and it was full, thus you being waitlisted?

I guess i got really lucky cause I called at the 7 month window for VWL for 2 nights the week of Christmas for a studio and he put me on hold for awhile, came back and told me he had it. (I cancelled a BCV ressie, maybe he switched with soemoen who was on waitlist there?)

lenshanem:
We booked sometime within the 7 month window. Maybe August or September. It was for like December 5-12 or something, so it wasn't really that close to Christmas. I had done a little research. Called ressies to check at 7, 8, and 9 month window to see if ressies were available at VWL in December 2003. They said no availability. I had been getting irritated because my guide had pushed our initial purchase of VB. I asked if the 7 versus 11 month window would make any difference and he said it would not, unless you wanted holidays, spring breaks, summers, etc. I said we would not be traveling to WDW when school was out. Our kids have grown so we don't need to deal with the crowds. He said again that we would have no problem getting ressies. Well, I tried various times to get ressies at various places the first two to three weeks of December and while there was some availability at other resorts, there was no way I would get VWL except waitlist for a ressie. SO, I called MS to express my concern that I had been mislead by guide. This was several months ago when DVC was exercising many ROFRs, so they had some inventory. MS offered me a deal of MB on 100 points at VWL. I thought I heard of others on this board who also got MB there. Didn't resolve the VB points issue, and we had to purchase additional points (which wasn't all bad anyway), so at least we've got the VWL points at 11 month window. We can use VB for trips in April, May, October, and other times we want to go and stay other WDW resorts. Plus we have the BCV points as well.

This past spring, I got a call from my guide informing me that they finally had some points for sale for my requested add-on. I had made the request at least a year before it came through. It seems like they had recently bought up a bunch of contracts to get all these points for sale. I'm not sure if a year is the average wait for these points but that was my experience.
