What shop do you love that no longer exists?

When I was a kid, my “go to” stores were the 5 & 10 and the Sweet Shop. I always wondered why the 5 & 10’s faded away, and not long after dollar stores popped up and were able to make a go of it.

The Sweet Shop does still exist, but is nothing like it was. The soda fountain is gone, as is the wall of various types of candy, snacks and toys, and the racks of comic books and magazines like Mad and Cracked.

I am guessing maybe the lottery machine keeps it going. That wasn’t there when I was young. Back then it was a busy spot and sold many newspapers each day.

A few stores that I miss from when I was a teen into my 20's back before the invention of the automobile:

1. Camelot Music
2. Peaches Records & Tapes
3. Chess King
4.Wilsons Leather
5. CompUSA

Toys R Us.

One of my favorite days of the year was my Mom taking my to Toys R Us shortly after Christmas armed with my Christmas money and gift certificates. I looked forward to that almost as much as Christmas morning itself (when it came to getting gifts, that is).
This. I loved Toys R Us as a kid, and I even worked there over one holiday.
