Hi all,

With all the walking you have to do around Disney, what kind of shoes do you find most comfortable to wear.

Any suggestion please.

Thanks in advance.

I dont think you can go wrong with a good pair of worn-in trainers
or i've read on the american site that a lot of people ware
Teva sandals :sunny:
:earsgirl:

i always get hot just looking at people at WDW wearing closed shoes (trainers and the like)...
all 4 of us wear sandals at WDW in the summer.....my husband and me wear birkenstocks, the two kids wear teva-like sandals (not tevas, but rather the much better brand made locally where we live)..
in hot weather i only wear sandals...
in fact, where we live, i put on my sandals in march and never take them off until november (or whenever the first rain hits)....

hot weather calls for sandals unless you want to die of the heat...
but they should be well broken in....otherwise, it's blister-city....
my personal preference is for birks with suede straps as they break in really nicely.....but my husband wears the leather ones and they work well for him...(mine have no backstrap, his do)...

Clarks do a range of sandles with comfortable soles that seemed to help feet feet not to get sore when trecking around the parks.

If you are going away december or january, you can definately wear trainers, on some days your toes may feel icy without them. Otherwise sandals are the way to go.
BTW find a material that dries quite well (rain showers, water rides). My leather-type sandals dried with weird water marks all over them and the soles seemed to retain water for hours. Not very comfortable!
Hope this helps,
Claire

We always go at Easter time. I take a very well broken-in pair of trainers plus a pair of Teva-like sandals - so I can swap about each day. I tend to keep the sandals for the parks where there are more wet rides.

DH always wears trainers, whatever time of year.

DDs and I prefer to wear canvas trainers, but they're not always easy to find in the UK shops. They are cooler than 'normal' trainers, but particularly useless for wet rides or thunderstorms

I agree that the trekking sandals are also a good choice in the hot weather ('fashion sandals' aren't usually up to the mileage you're likely to cover), but I'd recommend something with a backstrap to make it easier on your tired feet and legs.

I think you're likely to get a different answer from everyone on this question - it's really a matter of what your feet prefer ;)

I have a pair of Clarks "springer" sandals which have served me well for 2 trips to Disney (incl. jan/Feb although the day it snowed on DAytona beach I wore trainers). Will not wear anything else now as feet can breath, keep cool & dry out quickly after sudden rain or water rides. DH is now a convert but DD (4) wears well worn in Clarks "doodles" which are a canvas shoe & are ceremoniously dumped in the States before flying home!

I go to Orlando with another family - 9 of us in total - and I'm the only one who wears sandals - everyone else wears trainers. They think I'm mad wearing sandals and I in turn think that trainers are too hot.
I believe it's very much a personal choice of what you find is the most comfortable.

Above all, whatever you wear it must be COMFY. I'm another devotee of Clarks Springer Sandals. I took a brand new pair with me last time and wore them for the whole holiday, they were great, no blisters no rubbing just the usual 'Florida feet' tiredness from walking so much. New shoes are definately not recommended for Florida but my broken in ones became a Scooby snack for our puppy just before we went. That'll teach me for leaving them on the floor and not tidying up!

Teva sandals are great because they dry really quickly and are nice and cool. Above all they don't smell in hot weather:crazy: I've also got a pair of Merrell sandals which are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned in my life. You can generally get these types of shoes from camping or outdoor clothing shops like Millets.

Another good thing about these types of sandals is that they are great if you have wide feet (I have feet like a Hobbit:p ).

I agree with the Merrels - I wore these

in Florida and all summer here and they are undoubtedly the most comfortable sandals I've ever worn - and we covered a lot of miles in the July heat and my feet were never tired. They dry out quickly too. I don't think I've ever worn anything other than sandals in Florida and have never even taken any socks when I go.

i wear oakley sandals and i have never had a problem, theyre pricey but worth it

I have 3 pairs of M&S Footglove sandals which are like wearing a pair of slippers. They are wonderful. I have had various pairs over the years and wear them all summer long at home and will have no hesitation in wearing them in the parks in October. Although they are not the height of fashion, they are not hideous either.

I always have trouble with my feet on holiday in hot climates and end up miserable with blisters in no time!

A couple of years ago I found some excellent walking "trainers" by Brasher. I have walked miles around Disney in these and they feel like walking on air! They come in men and women's versions:

They have mesh sides, so your feet stay incredibly cool and have proper bottoms that absorb all the impact.

The most comfortable shoe I have ever worn!
