I usually go to WDW in December, but we surprised DD and took her for her 6th birthday. I probably came over-prepared for the weather, but, I did catch a few envious eyes looking my way!!
I ordered a set of 6 "Cool Wraps" from QVC. The are bandanas that can be tied around your neck, head or even wrist or ankle. You soak them in water for about 20 minutes and the crystals inside swell up and get ice cold. So, I soaked all six in the sink our first morning...then we took a soft, large cooler bag with us each day to the parks loaded with ice, water, box drinks, etc and I put the bandanas in it. When it got really hot we would tie one of those gems around our necks and they stayed cold for a few hours..then we would put those back in the cooler bag and get out the other 3 that were in there and use those...all day we had a cold bandana to use. HEAVEN :cloud9: ! That paired with a visor and mister fan made for enjoyable days in the Florida sun. The family we were with joked the heck out of me, but by the end of the week we were sharing them with them!!
BTW, the cooler bag was quite heavy to and from the parks, but once in, the rented stroller took that pain away!!

Awesome, great stuff, eh? I might just use that 'round home!! Because, in my signature, you can see we're going in December!

I had seen them before, so I went online and found the directions to make them.

In the past week we have made 30+ of them. Some for our trip, some for friends.

I was able to go to Hobby Lobby and Hancock fabrics and find Disney fabric. the kids are excited to have the "Cars" material. I, myself, prefer the Mickey.

Beverly - Could you tell me which web site you used that had directions to make these? We are leaving in 3 weeks :sunny: and these sound like a great idea!

Thanks!

I got the "Miracool" version of those!! My DF is not so sure, but I KNOW that he will be happy that he has one when we are in the thick of the Florida heat!

There is also a website called kraftywench.com or craftywench...can't remember which spelling, but she does disney fabrics as well and they are very reasonably priced!!!

I'm glad to know they work well!!!

Thanks for that website - they are very reasonably priced! I may have to order them and hope they come in time before we leave 8/21.

Thanks again!

I used them last year, but found they got slimy and warm after a few hours - gave me a rash, ewwww. A cooler would be a great idea to recharge them, because putting them under cold water didn't do it.

My mom bought the set from QVC that had 4 cool wraps and 2 small Misty Mates. We used these all week and we also kept the soft side cooler with ice and water bottles. It all worked very well.

I'm glad to hear that these worked great. I just ordered some from someone on TGM who makes them with disney prints.

Funny, I bought mine from QVC too. We were there in July and never used them. There was only one day that I felt too hot and could have used them but other than that we were okay with dipping into shops and never really had to stand in long lines getting hotter.
