Hi, booking our seats next week with VA on the 747 400 from MAN.

Trying to work out which exit they use, is it the very first one by upper class or the one next to the galley with the stairs, row 25?

We are a family of 4, youngest will just have turned 2 when we go and is VERY lively! Thinking the bubble is not for us as i've heard its quiet up there, plus I get a bit claustrophobic and it looks small up there!

So thinking of trying for row 31 as 30 is probably the extra leg room ones?
I want to be off ASAP, we used to get the very back 3 when we were a smaller family! Oldest was no bother. But the youngest just does not keep still but saying that, if we're off first will we have a long wait at customs, having to keep her in line without the stroller will be a nightmare, so am I better off waiting on the plane, keeping her strapped in!? Lol.

We are on the later flight so land about 6pm, always been on the earlier one so not sure how busy customs would be, I know it's always busy!!

The return is no problem as we are PE, so I'll try for any of the middle 4.

Thanks for any advice.

With regards to customs, you get in an hour after the LGW late flight and around the same time as the BA LGW late flights, so depending on how busy they are will dictate how busy customs is!

:goodvibes

Boarding on the 747-400 LGW version for VA is through the second door (at the foot of the stairs) between rows 19 and 25 (that's for econ and PE, upper class will probably board through front door if there is a double jetway at the boarding gate)

One jetway/door only is used at LGW MAN and MCO all passengers including upper use the door at the bottom of the stairs as you said in your post.

I tried to book rows 30 and 31 yesterday when booking my seats from LGW and they didn't become available at all and that was on the dot of 8am. I'm guessing they keep 30 free for people who need to use Sky Cots or need easy access etc?!

You might want to have some other options ready just in case. Fingers crossed you get what you want though.

Also, you mentioned you little one is lively. I travelled with my little boy when he was almost two. I packed a bag for him and wrapped up a little 'gifts' for him to open each hour. They were things like sticker books, or a toy car, or a light weight book, some chocolate buttons etc etc. The novelty of something new every hour to unwrap, discover and then explore kept his attention a bit longer than just packing his usual toys and books. Just an idea...

Hope you have a fab holiday xx

Thanks for the info.

I've been to the shops today and started buying stuff, stickers and crayons so far.

Phew.

I totally forgot to log on at 8am to book my seats!
But luckily a row of 4 in row 32 was still there.
Row 30&31 were not available to book so I'm happy with what I got.

Must remember to book return now in 2 weeks time, will set my alarm this time, as we're coming back PE and want a row of 4 again! Doesn't seem to be a lot of them!
