Hi,

We are booked for a lagoon view at GF in August. I was just wondering if anyone had suggestions about which room to request - we would like a big balcony with a MK view - I have heard that there are some rooms with 2 balconies - any ideas what numbers they are?? Thanks in advance!

We had a wonderful lagoon view room at the GF last July. It was in bldg. Sago Cay. We had one in Big Pine Key that was nice but not nearly as good of a MK view as the one in Sago Cay. It only had one balcony but you lie in bed and watch the castle change colors!

We had Lagoon view, corner room facing MK. We were in Boca Chica bldg.
We also had dormer room. Can't remember the # but it was on the left side of the bldg. when facing lagoon. One of the balcony's has solid wall (facing pool), but the one facing MK was open. We sat out there every morning with our coffee & newspaper. It was so quiet before MK opened. You could hear the music from MK and just enjoy the scenes. I really liked the dormer room compared to std. They say dormer is smaller, but feels a lot bigger to me!!

We had a dormer room in Boca Chica with an awesome view. Sorry I don't know the room number. I saved the room key for ten years because I wanted to request the same room for our tenth anniversay. Ten years this Aug and oh Da no room number on the key! :clown:

Docs,,,, I did that same thing too,,, save the key because I wanted to remember the room number,,,,,, duh no room number on key ,, I still every now and then look
at it trying to figure out the numbers that are on it ,,,,,,,, :confused3

Best MK view at the GF lagoon view is Conch Key, hands down! :thumbsup2 There aren't very many LV rooms though because there are quite a few suites in that building. But if you get lucky you might get it! ;) We had an awesome room there in Jan. 03. Better view than our other stays at the GF.

Here is our trip report from that room:

Just about all the rooms at the GF have a balcony. The dormer rooms are the ones with the smaller, enclosed balcony. Corner rooms come with 2 balconies, 1 large and 1 smaller. Just have your requests listed on your reservation by priority. I would say that Conch Key is probably going to have the best views, followed by Sago Cay, then Boca Chica.

We had one of the corner rooms you all are describing in Boca Chica, and let me tell you it was FABULOUS!!! One balcony faced the monorail/MK and the other faced the Wilderness Lodge.

Our room number was 8345 - so you could also request 8245 or 8445 and get the same view.

We stayed in SL later in the year, and although concierge was a great perk, we all agreed that NOTHING beat that room.

Oh, and to us, it felt like the room had a little added square footage, not sure if this was just an illusion, but it sure felt bigger...having two balconies was FABULOUS!

Good luck with your request! :)

Hi -

Jumping in, too , for some advice from the experts - hope you don't mind !We're heading to GF Sept 1 - 5 ... 1st time staying there for us.

I just want to clarify something .... are dormer rooms and corner rooms 2 different things ? If so, are there any dormer rooms that are also corner rooms ? Are they available in both Garden view and Lagoon View ?

Thanks :)

Yes, corner rooms and dormer rooms are 2 different things. The dormer rooms are easily picked out by they "A" style framing. They are slightly smaller than a standard room, but the cathederal ceilings can actually make them feel bigger.

Yes, there are corner dormer rooms, as well as corner standard rooms.

Yes, they are available in both garden and lagoon view. A corner garden room will not necessarily offer you both a view of the garden and the MK however.

We had a dormer room in Concha Key last October. We are going back this year around same time and hope to get as good a view. Great view of MK, Monorail, Overlooking boat launch. Are there other LV in Concha Key that are not suites or dormer? We are a family of 5 (youngest 2) and the dormer was a bit small to accommodate the crib. What should we request and still get the great view?

conch key has lagoon rooms that are not suites or dormers. Dormers will be on the upper floors and have an enclosed balcony. Some fine the rooms charming, I found them to be too much like an attic and did not like the balcony at all. If you sit down you are looking at nothing but the wood enclosure.

Sago Cay is really nice too as is Boca Chica.
