Hi,
I am needing help figuring out all the room types at Disneyland hotel and which one's are refurbished(I know this is a request). We will be arriving in early June and it is me, my husband and our two daughters(5yrs and 12 yrs). Should we stay at GCH or the Pier since the pool area is questionable? I am a newbie at DL and just now planning our room selection so any advice is GREATLY appreciated. :thumbsup2

I got confused at the selection when I went to book my room at DLH. There is a lot of choices. Is there a link or a guide on the boards that tell you what the room description mean? Such as what kind of views and what is the difference between lower level views versus higher level rooms?

As of my stay in mid February more of the rooms are renovated than not, the ones that are not are being worked on. So I would say your chance of getting a new room in June is very good. I'm not sure when the work on the towers is supposed to be complete, but I would imagine by June they should be very close to if not completely finished. We had booked a standard room and received a beautifully renovated room, even got a view upgrade.

Just looked at a random night in June at the DLH and got the following. It is very confusing and I don't have all the answers but will fill in where I can

Standard View Room Included old room, city view
Preferred Standard View+$48.00 new room, city view
Lower Level Resort View+$56.00 old room, lower floors, DTD view
Resort / Pool View +$56.00 old room, lower floors, pool or DTD view
Preferred Deluxe View +$96.00 new room, floor level under 5th floor, DTD or Pool view
Upper Level Resort View+$104.0 old room, floor above 5th floor, DTD view
Upper Level Pool View +$104.00 V= old room, floor above 5th floor, pool view
Preferred Premium View+$136.00 new room, floor above 5th floor, DTD or Resort view

Basically what I have been told is
Standard view is city view, some parking view, maybe obstructed view
Deluxe view is DTD/Pool view, 5th floor or below
Premium view is DTD/Pool view, above 5th floor
Preferred means a renovated room

Hope that helps

We have a standard room booked for May 17-21 and I am really hoping for a renovated room. DVC wouldnt let me book a renovated room. But if there are only a few standard left by then and they are being worked on then I would end up in a rennovated. They told me to ask when I checked in.

I would also call and have the request put in your reservation by the hotel.

Not sure if I can since it is booked through DVC and they can not put the request in.

Thanks SierraNevada:goodvibes That is what I was wanting to know. I have just booked a perfered standard room. Thank You again.

This thread is a little out of date.

It is my understanding that all the of the rooms that guests are using are renovated at this point. The only ones not renovated are closed and being worked on. Is that right???

We are using DVC points, and they were not able to put a request in. The DVC cast member told me to call the resort closer to the check in date and put any requests in then.

DH and I stayed at the DLH in February on DVC points. We only payed for a standard view but ended up with a newly renovated second from the top floor view room with a balcony. Don't know if a busier time of year might have less upgrades available but they really went out of their way to give us a nice room at check in.

That's correct, there are no old rooms available anymoe. If you find yourself in one sorry you walked to far to the Frontier tower and are now in the PPH. Turn around go northwest 100 yards to the all new style rooms DLH. :)
