i am looking for some answers to a couple of rides that may or may not give you motion sickness,i get bad motion sickness if i am spun round or shaken too much,(what a :eeyore: ******* i am going on a theme park holiday  ) normal up and down rollercoasters are fine thunder mountain looks fine on the video clips but the hulk is a no way dont sit in front of me ride  or you may think your on splash mountain :p .i want to try spiderman it looks excellent and soarin has anyone had bad motion sickness on these rides.i am going to try travel sickness pills to help me occaisionally dont know if they will work :confused3 maybe worth a go

You would definately avoid Mission Space then!! The tamer version might be ok as it doesnt spin but the normal one makes you feel very sick!

You may want to avoid the tea cups!!. Seriously my DH will go on anything but the only ride to make him feel sick was the tea cups so he won't go on them anymore, he just stands there watching and turns green :rotfl2:

I love 'coasters but the rides that make me feel awful are ones with video screens, ala Star Tours in MGM and Bodyshock(I think?) in Epcot.

DEFINITELY keep away from Mission Space. It spins you round and round and even made me feel ill. They actually have splatter proof walls, and sick bags in each cubicle...

Hi, if you get to Disney Quest there is a Buzz Lightyear ride/game that looks pretty cute. You drive round in a little buggy firing balls at other buggies. When the buggies get hit they spin round and round and round (you get the picture). Avoid it like the plague

If you're going to Universal, make sure you avoid Men in Black as that spins quite rapidly, the Cat in the Hat ride at Islands of Adventure does too.

Star Tours in MGM ~ I felt very unwell on that one time and I don't even suffer from Motion Sickness.

Don't sit in the back of Rock 'n' Rollercoaster. I LOVE rollercoasters, but sitting in the back of that has totally made me NEVER want to ride it again. Even with my head forced against the head-rest, my head was still thrown from side to side, as was mum's and sister's, and we all came out with very red ears. In fact, I came out holding onto mine because they hurt so much! I also had a bad headache for the rest of the day.

Take heed on the Mission: Space warnings! DO NOT do the intense version! Having done it once, I don't think I'll be doing it again, and my mum certainly won't be - she had to reach for one of the sick bags! :rotfl:

The Hulk, for some reason, was not very smooth when we rode it (although it had shut a couple of times that day due to vibrations). That left me with a dull headache and sicky feeling that took a couple of hours and a couple of bottles of water to shake off.

Spiderman is great - simulator, track ride and 3-d effects all combined into one. I wear glasses, so at times the 3-D glasses (over my glasses) made me feel a little weird. The worst 3-D ride I went on was actually Shrek 4-D at Universal. I came off that wanting to throw up (although didnt!).

Avoid the Tea Cups, Men In Black (US) and Storm Force (UIOA) - they all spin

Soarin' is a difficult one to advise on, as it depends on what sets off your travel sickness. You are basically in a dome-shaped building and the video is played out in front of you, but also curves to the top, bottom and sides, so if you need to look straight out the front of a car when a passenger (i.e in the front rather than the back), it could cause some issues.

Certain rides make me feel ill but Spiderman fortunatley is not one of them.

Mission Space, Body Wars, Back To The Future are one's I would definitely avoid and certain kiddie rides too, Cat In The Hat is one that always makes me feel ill (Joshua loves it!).

Tea cups for me had vertigo a fewyears ago never been smae since

For me, it was Star Tours, MGM (you couldn't pay me to go on that again!), Soarin', Epcot and the Astro Orbiters, MK  Little bit embarassed about that one!

Sara. :)

Hey, how about taking a travel sickness tablet before you go to the park.
:confused3 :confused3
Just a suggestion :rolleyes1

uuuuhhh thanks everyone i feel a bit like theres a lump in my throat now just reading and imagining them, good job i asked this question.all sounds like you had a great time :rotfl2: i guess i will see a lot off shows and eat alot,i now declare i am the sole carer for my 3 year old son on this holiday as he is 2 small for most rides leaving my :hmghost: wife to do the rides with the 5 year old :woohoo: and i wont tell her this sickness bit  ooh i am feeling better already :rotfl2: this could be better than any ride :joker:

Soarin', Epcot. Sara. :)

Oh, Is that one bad as well. Like mozzman, I can be affected by motion sickness and generally avoid the one's everyone has mentioned. I've never been on Soarin' and heard so many good things about it, but I didn't realise it was one of 'those' rides.

I get motion sickness (Mission Space left me green for hours!) but don't have any trouble with Soarin'. The motion is quite gentle and shouldn't affect anybody too badly.

I always feel very nauseous after riding It's A Small World - I think it's the music that does it. The effect seems to last a good few hours after riding with the music going round in my head!

I was ok for the most part on Soarin' - tried my best to focus on one spot etc, but did start to get a bit queasy towards the end - it was probably a good job it finished when it did. Saying that, it wasn't the actual movement of the ride that did it, it was the movement on the simulator big screen so you could always briefly close your eyes to re-focus! (I had to close my eyes on Star Tours).

You should be ok - give it a go!

jna you should have no problem with sorrian as its just a tame ride there is no sppinning involved just up and downs over an imax screan.MS is a centrifuge that pulls you up in air as long as you stare straight ahead no problem,But those tea cups you will never get me on them.I would do RnR coster only onece in the day and never do the rockets at tommorowland
