What ride will be the next to go at US?

IF....I had to choose. I think they will close BTTF next. Not that I want them to...but if I had to choose which one they would close next.

That thing looks like that killer machine they had on the streets of Universal years ago..

I've forgot its name robo something ...

It was designed to destroy cars and things

I saw the TV show talking about that...the robocoaster.

but Im pretty sure the one planned for IOA was going to be just ground based. IIRC there was a blueprint type of picture that made its way to another message board I was on.
I saw that show too and thought that would be an awesome ride. I wonder how long before it makes its way to a theme park somewhere. I would definitely want to take a trip there for a ride on the robocoaster.

As for which ride might be next to be removed, I would say probably BTTF also. We enjoy the ride, so hopefully it will be around, but you never kn ow.

I agree with getting rid of Twister. I thought it was a lame attraction since I was expecting more wind. I like Earthquake better than Catastrophe Canyon. We didn't do Earthquake this year but we did do Catastrophe Canyon and I thought it was really bad. I think they could probably make some changes to Earthquake and it would be a better attraction. This was also the first time since 1997 that I rode BTTF and I enjoyed it more this time than in 1997. I didn't think the ride was too jerky and still thought it was fun (we rode BTTF after riding Spiderman). I, too, was sad to see the Hitchcock attraction close since it was a great way of introducing new fans to the artistry of Hitchcock. I also loved the Bates Motel merchandise in the gift shop. I would rather have them build a real rollercoaster versus a simulator - it seems like US has enough simulators, let's go for the real thing!

Hi, all!
I agree with the needed re-vamp of BTTF ... I won't even ride it anymore, as I got tired of having to position myself in the preshow room to get in the front row because of all the head-jarring action in the back!
As for the robotic arm ride, on our last trip to Legoland California, I rode Knight's Tournament, which is a stationary (not coaster) robotic arm ride.
Now, I will ride just about anything (except Storm Force - my kids spin that thing to death and the strobe light effect makes me want to hurl!), but that ride kicked my you-know-what!
Knight's Tournament allows you to choose your level, from 1 to 5.
The higher the level, the more extreme the ride.
Level 1 was just side to side swinging (for DD5).
Level 2 added front to back swinging (for DS7).
Level 3 added up and down movement (for DS11).
Level 4 added circular motion.
Then, stupid me, being extremely secure in my riding abilities, chose Level 5, which added upside down movement, which was over a water filled area.
You are strapped in a harness and have to remove any earrings (which I fully understood afterwards!).
I rode alone, since my DH wouldn't even try Level 5.
After about of 2 minutes in that virtual blender, I got off slightly dazed, only to walk around for the next half hour totally loopy and off balance.
If they ever add a robotic arm ride at IOA/US, you can bet I won't be riding it if it's anywhere as brutal as KT was!
Yikes!

We haven't ridden this ride in years. I have a bad back, plus the jarring always gave me a headache. I'd like to ride it at least once more. How do we position ourselves in the preshow room to get the front row? I don't think I've ever ridden in the front, which may be why I never really enjoyed the ride.

As for a new ride, I'd much rather see a simulated ride like Spidey than a real coaster. IMHO, they're what sets the Orlando parks apart from other amusement parks. There's more to making a park special than theming buildings. Offering rides that you can't find elsewhere makes UO & WDW special. If they build a regular coaster, I hope they'll create more of a theme than the coasters currently in the park now. Those coasters are great, but they're not really unique.

Does anybody think that T2 might be in the thoughts of being taken away?

I doubt it, AFAIK there isn't much room in there for anything but a show, and its still popular with guests

tarheelmjfan,

Since BTTF is loaded into the preshow room in a group for one ride vehicle (without assigned seats), when you get into the room, try to "gracefully" move as close to the doors on the opposite side of the room during the "preshow."
That way, when the doors open, you will be one of the first through them and can quickly maneuver your way around the car to get in the front seat.
Try for one of the two seats in the middle of the front seat.
I've found them to be the least jarring.

Good luck!

I hate to think this, but I think BTTF or ET are next- my two favorite rides in the park
:(. I really dont want them to go anytime soon, but I have a bad feeling that they will be in the near future.....

I really hope not. I'd like to see them refurbished but not taken out..

I think the next to go should be Earthquake. It's a lot of space that can be used for a major attraction.

I like Earthquake. The subway part is pretty good. It's similar to Catastrophe Canyon.
The live demonstration between the ride and the preview is what needs adjustment. The rest is fine

E.T. is the major anchor of the Kidzone, and it's based on one of Universal's most recognizable movies. It's also the only truly kid-friendly dark ride in USF. I doubt it goes anywhere, although it really needs a facelift. It should have gotten one when the movie did.

BTTF is quickly outdating itself. It will need to be re-done and tweaked, if not replaced outright. Considering the lasting popularity of the franchise, the former is more likely.

Earthquake is a somewhat tired concept. I still enjoy the ride, personally, but the overlong pre-shows need to go. In the occurence that the attraction is replaced, I'm not sure what they'd replace it with. It just fits the SF theme so well. Then again, no one expected Kong to close, and Mummy was shoved into NY, where it doesn't belong. So you never know what they'll do in that regard...

they should get rid of jaws, twister, and earthquake. if they touch anything other than those 3 they are in BIG trouble.

I like Twister, one of my favourite rides - something to get rid of = 'Lucille A Tribute'.

I vote for BTTF to close next. It's my least favorite ride. Last year when I rode it, I actually felt physically ill and my vision got all blurry. I felt like I was going to faint/pass out. Not a feeling I want to have again. I also vote for "Lucy: A Tribute" to close, but there are fans of hers still out there that still enjoy seeing memorabilia. I hope they don't touch E.T. or Twister or Earthquake or T2:3-D. Oh yeah, I too was saddened when they took out Kong and Hanna Barbera and Hitchcock.

I liked Hitchcock too. Lucille is definitely the one to go for me.
