I got to ride the mummy for the first time last week and really enjoyed it. But, I do miss Kong! Kong was one of my favorites! It made me think about what ride will be the next to go at US. My guess would be ET or Back to the Future. Any other thought about what will get the axe next?

I'm still mad at them for doing away Hitchcock. not really mad, more like sad because I loved Hitch.
I hope they never touch ET, but I could live without Jaws or Back to the future. BTTF always hurts my neck! Jaws is just plain dumb in my opinion.
and if they ever replace Monster Cafe, I will pitch a bloody fit!

I hope they never touch ET either. It is just one of those cheesy, lovable rides. I do hope they do something about BTTF. They don't have to get rid of it but it sure needs some work.

I think the next new ride will be in IOA.

We liked the Hitchcock theatre.

Not a ride as such but does anyone actually like "Lucille A Tribute"?

Im expecting BTTF to go next, for a few reasons...first it probably is the roughest ride at Universal, second, people in general aren't too fond of basic flight simulators anymore...and third, well, 2015 is rapidly approaching and it looks like we won't be living with flying cars, etc.

I've heard about a Van Helsing some kind of attraction.
I would love to see some kind of sci fi series attraction... such as galactica

There was practically proof of a Van Helsing attraction in the planning stages before the movie came out, but I think they canned it when it didnt do as well in the box office as they expected

Earthquake needs to go, or at least have the shows seriously reworked. Its the laughingstock of the park, even among those of us who work there. Unfortunately that will never happen, because it's also the people-eater of the park (highest guests per hour capacity). Jaws will never go, because it's Spielberg's baby and he won't allow it....not that I'm complaining, it's my favorite ride and one of the only remaining spiel attractions. Although Jaws has been dropped to seasonal status, it'll never go away completely. IMHO, the Mummy could have gone into one of the empty buildings, like the old Murder She Wrote building, and Kong should have stayed where it was. I hate to see anything else original or close to it go away, US has changed SO much over the years, there's almost nothing left.

I totally agree with you. It had been about 10 years since I had been there last (I was there last week) and so much has changed. The empty Nick building should be used for something that guests can experience. It seems like such a waste. The man at guest relations was talking with us about all the changes. He said that many of the roaming characters (Gracho Marx, etc) are also gone. I really wish they had put the mummy in another location. Kong was such a great ride.

NO!!!!!!!!!! I WON'T LISTEN TO YOU!!!!!!!!! THEY CAN'T DESTROY MY LOVE, MY BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 THEY CAN'T GET RID OF MY BTTF!!!!!!!!!!!! I WILL CRY AND PROTEST IF I HEAR BTTF IS NEXT TO GO!!!!!!!!!! PLZ SOMEONE SAY THEY AGREE!!!!!!!!!!

on the other hand, i wouldn't mind seeing another water ride!!!!! lol!

I was a spieler on Kong from 1992 - 2001. I moved to NOLA then and wasn't able to come back for the last ride. My friends told me all about the going away party, and how the Team Members were allowed to keep their uniforms. Makes me really sad to think about it.
Yeah, the entertainment budget was slashed a few months ago. They had a big audition, didn't hire a single person from it, and two days later slashed the budget and fired a bunch of people. Now what was the point of that audition? :confused3 I still love Universal, but some of the recent changes have just been dumb. BTW, not sure what they do with it the rest of the year, but Nick is now "costume and makeup central" for HHN. Gone are the days when each house had its own trailer...now it's just hurry up and wait, in a long line, for a makeup artist. :sad2:

I totally agree. there is one thing that I really miss is when they would play the theme songs from the rides when you would be walking from the moving walkway until you enter the park. now they play regular old stuff you would hear on the radio. I don't want to hear 'Super Freak' etc.. I want to hear the back to the future song or the theme from Jaws. I want to hear songs from the rides I'm about to ride and when I leave I want to hear them again because it makes me not want to leave the park.
I love Universal, but ALOT of things have changed and not all for the better.
and they REALLY should do away with the credit card pushers. I can't stand them.

the timeshare reps next to the Shrek meet and greet need to be destroyed. they're chasing people down now, and it's starting to really tick me off.

sorry for continuing to go off-topic, but I agree about the credit card peopple/timeshare people/survey takers/TV show preview people/etc.

I went to IOA/US last month and was stopped probably 5 times by different people trying to ask me something/get me to do something/etc. and it got annoying.

Speaking of music, WHY oh WHY do they play "You Can't Touch This" in front of MIB??? It has nothing to do with MIB at all. If you're going to add rap music, why not add Will Smith? and MIB is circa 1997, not 1990!!

They might as well play "Macarena" in front of the mexican restaurant (whose name escapes me at the moment)

The Van Helsing thing was a simulator, where 2 people sit in chairs side by side, and a robotic arm moves the chairs all over the place. This didn't look very interesting, and it's very low capacity. But recently, they said this technology could be put on a roller coaster, and that would make the ride different every time. I wonder if IOA was looking into the roller coaster version of this, or just the simulator that stays on the ground?

I saw the TV show talking about that...the robocoaster.

but Im pretty sure the one planned for IOA was going to be just ground based. IIRC there was a blueprint type of picture that made its way to another message board I was on.

My DD and I have this EXACT same conversation every time we ride MIB. :smooth:

You couldn't pay me to ride that thing. no way.

if that thing is built at IOA or USF, they better not demolish an old ride!!!!! Not only would i never go on that, but I can't stand to see another great ride go!!!! (my heart was broken when they got rid of kong)
