What ride freaked you out as a kid?

The first time you/your kids went to Disney, which ride freaked you/them out? Like, made you cry "mommy i never wanna go on that ride ever again!"

I had a few my first time (5 years old) - Pirates of the Caribbean because I hated the gun shots and Snow White because the witch petrified me. I think I also hated Mr. Toad - a lot. Poor Mr. Toad is no longer there so I'm not sure if it would still scare me (probably not) but I've ridden Pirates and Snow White since and of course they're quite tame and I just there and laugh at what a wimp i was. In addition, not sure whether Illuminations was at Epcot back in 1990 but whatever the fireworks show was then scared me to death! The second it started, i started screaming and my dad had to carry me all the way from France to the park exit and all the way through the parking lot to find our car (which they of course had trouble finding). I'm pretty sure I cried the whole time. Still don't like fireworks but I'll sit through them as long as my ears are covered and we're far away from where they're set off (I think i would die on an illuminations cruise!) Although I must say, Wishes is amazing and I would watch it anytime.

So what was everyone else scared of? or what were your kids scared of?

but I was always a little freaked out on "adventure thru inner space". The huge eyeball at the end was REALLY freaky to me!!! I would still ride it, but I was still freaked out!!! :magnify:

Wow, you are so lucky to have visited as kids. I grew up watching all the Disneyland shows on TV dreaming of my first visit ('70 to DL when E tickets were still in existence) and when my now DD22 was 5 to WDW. We did manage to tramatize DS then 9 on ToT :confused3 , wouldn't ride it until 13. Now at 17 he's become a daredevil. Rides everything, everywhere (6 times minimum on Hulk, or it's not a good Universal visit :lmao: )

When I first went when I was 4 years old, the witch from Snow White's Scary Adventures freaked me out!! I still have nightmares about it!

My mother still reminds me of how I was so scared on Snow White (about 5yo, in the 60s, Disneyland), where she is holding the apple. She said I would cry through the whole thing, knowing what was to come.
Now I can ride it, no problem. :thumbsup2

Body Wars. My mom didn't like it, so that probably impacted my taste for it, but still, the whole "splinter" scene stuck with me. Everytime I got a splinter I pictured that scene. It still sort of sticks with me to this day...

At disneyland we were riding the riverboat during the fireworks and it totally freaked me out. The noise was too much for me.

When I was a kid, I was terrified of P of C. I thought that the cannons were real. I always ducked down in the boat so the cannonballs wouldn't hit me. pirate:

I loved The Haunted Mansion. I was a big Scooby Doo fan and I thought that it would be a fun place for Scooby and Shaggy. P of C was the only frightening ride.

I'm a little claustrophobic, so I did not like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea as a child or as an adult. We made the mistake of going on Snow White first for our first visit to WDW with kids. My daughter was then very leery of all indoor attractions.

One ride was the Phoenix at Busch Gardens Tampa. I rode it when I was in high school and it spooked me out!

I remember Snow White freaking me out at age 3 too. I just have this vision of the witch with the apple in her hand. As a side note, Alien Encounter freaked me out as an adult! :scared1: Those loud noises and not being able to see what's coming next. I only rode it once!

I dont remember this but apparently both my younger sister and I were absoluetly terrified of Snow White's Scary Adventure as toddlers. This was in the early 70's and apparently the ride did not originally have the "Scary" in the title. I guess a bunch of parents wrote letters (my mom being one of them) of how there should be some kind of warning for small children causing Disney to add "Scary" to the title along with warnings in the wait line. 20,000 Leagues always kinda freaked me out. It didn't really scare me, it was just kind of unsettling at the time. Space Mountain definitely scared the crap out of me as a boy. I remember going on the People Mover and being petrified when it went through Space Mountain. The glow in the dark ride vehicles, shooting stars, asteroids, etc really scared me. The part when you go in between the 2 initial inclines with the astronauts hanging upside down was extremely disorienting at the time. That always freaked me out! Of course Space Mountain is my absolute favorite ride. But I'll be honest, that part on the People Mover (TTA now) when it goes through SM still gives me chills....

When I was young I was terrified of the talking Buffalo, Moose & Elk at the Bear Jamboree :scared1:
I must confess, they still give me the heebie jeebies!!!!! :rotfl:

Even though I have always loved POC, it did scare me as a little girl. I really honestly thought I was right in the middle of a pirate battle. The cannon part always got me. Even though it doesn't scare me now, I still immerse myself in the ride and feel like it's real!!!!

I have to admit that I was scared on Haunted Mansion and to this day still get chills. :guilty:

My son was scared to death of Splash Mountain the first time and until December when I forced him on it was still scared that makes like 4 years of being scared and know it is his favorite. :rotfl:

I've 'fessed up' to this one before, but here it is again: The Storybookland Canal Boat Tragedy.

On my first visit to Disneyland in 1956 (I was 4 1/2 at the time), I was looking forward to going on this nice little boat ride my parents told me about, past miniature houses and castles from Disney films. Unfortunately, they neglected to mention the fact that, to get to the little houses and castles, your boat was first SWALLOWED DOWN THE GULLET OF MONSTRO THE WHALE!!! :scared1:  :scared: :faint:

I screamed my head off the entire ride and never set foot on it again until this past summer. Hey, it only took me 49 years to get over the trauma! :cheer2:

Mr. Toads Wild Ride. Mind you I was like 3 but when that car turned onto the train tracks and the "train" came at the car, I was really freaked out! :rotfl:

My first time at the MK, I was 7. I was not a easily scared kid but noone warned me about the drop before we got on. I guess cause it was dark and you can't really see it coming, I flipped out. :confused3

For me it was 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. And this is for a really stupid reason, I can't believe I am sharing. We were getting ready to go on the ride & someone had vomited in the que and I don't know why but I had it in my head that it was somebody's insides. Like their insides came out of them because they went on the ride. So I refused to go on. Wish I had now....

Yeah me too, and at the end you went to a place with devils. What were they thinking? :confused3
