My son will be turning 5 in another month and he has elected to go to Epcot. Are there any suggestions as to which resturants do birthday celebrations (dinner) the best?
There are no guarantees that any restaurant will do anything "special" for any type of celebration. Disney "magic" is random, even when noted on a reservation. If you want to make sure you have something special, you can order a cake and I believe they now have goody bags and centerpieces that you can order as well.
When my kids have been at Disney for their birthdays, we have had anything from singing and a cupcake, to absolutely nothing. You just never know.
I didn't think they had characters at Garden Grill anymore. Thanks for the tip! I had eaten there many moons ago and remember the food being quite tasty. I don't think I'll order a birthday cake though. I ordered one for my older son one year and it didn't taste that great. Thank you for the suggestion!
What about Teppan Edo! Of course my kids are a bit older, but they loved Teppan Edo, plus you get to watch your food being prepared so its fun! I don't know if they would do anything special for a birthday, but the food there is great/
Believe it or not my ds picked Restaurant Marrakesh in Morroco to celebrate his 6th birthday. They were wonderful. I don't think they had many kids pick their restaurant for their birthday so they really made a fuss over him.
They wrote happy birthday to him in Arabic and had , what seemed liked the whole kitchen staff, come out to sing happy birthday to him and they put a candle in his dessert.
We used to like Coral Reef for a birthday celebration but since they stopped the divers and personalized menus I wouldn't go their again.
Germany is quite festive, though for a 5 year old, I would even consider another park. Although their are plenty of things for kids at Epcot, is is really geared towards adults. If swapping park days is an option, go somewhere else....or even leave the park for a couple of hours and head to Downtown to TRex...or take the monorail over to the Polynesian to Ohana's. They have activities for kids and make a little fuss over birthday children (keep in mind there are bound to be a few other kids celebrating on the same day). Whispering Canyon at WL is fun for kids (take monorail to Contemp, then boat over to WL) Mickeys Backyard BBQ is really fun, but they only have it twice a week..not sure what day you are planning.
Im sure youll be fine wherever you go..after all..YOURE AT DISNEY WORLD!!
Well, I let him pick the park and he decided on Epcot. He will be tall enough to ride soarin and test track and that made him quite excited. He picked Animal Kingdom last year and we did Chef Mickeys for dinner. We have done Chef Mickey's four times now for birthday dinners and all of them were awesome except for the last one. I decided not to do that again. I did try to get ADR's for the garden grill but they were already sold out. I figured they would be but I had hope. The dining agent suggested the grille over at the Swan. I guess they have a character dinner. I made ADR's there but my heart isn't in it. I am thinking about canceling those and then showing up when the Garden Grill opens and pray we will have luck standing by. Just maybe they will take pity on the birthday boy. I took my oldest boy to Marekesh when he was about 2. The belly dancer came over and danced just for him. It was really cute. My little guy is EXTREMELY picky, so although I would like to go there, I dont forsee him eating anything there. It is ashame. I swear that place is the best kept secret! Again, I thank all of you for your suggestions! You haven't let me down yet!
Why do so many people think that all a 6yr old will eat are nuggets and fries????? My boy will be 6 in less than a month and some of his fav's are fish, crab, sushi, Greek food, Ital...etc..etc... He has been to disney once a year since birth and we have NEVER had to order mac-n'cheese at an ethnic restaurant in Epcot. There are great choices at all the resturants and all of them are child friendly. The musicians and dancer at Marrakesh are fun for kids to watch, Mexico has a great atmosphere...Germany is like being at a big Party and I could never in a million years find a reason not to go to Italy, France or Canada's nice steak place with him. Anywhere you choose can be great as long as all involved have a good attitude about food and different cultures.
You bring up a good point. Perhaps I will try Marakesh with him. I think he would like the atmosphere. He is VERY picky. I can't stress that enough. I can't get him to eat anything other then chicken nuggets and mac and cheese (only Kraft!). Despite my best attempts. I'm sure we will do just fine. Thanks again!!!!
