What restaurants should not be missed while staying in Beach Club/Boardwalk area?

We will be staying at BCV on our next trip. This is our first time staying in this area. What restaurants are not to be missed?

We have visited WDW a few times and have eaten at many table service restaurants. We would like to eat at those restaurants that will be most convenient given our resort location...those restaurants that we might not be able to experience as easily when staying somewhere else.

I have been considering the following:

Via Napoli
Beaches and Cream
Flying Fish Cafe
The Fountain
Il Mulino
Captain's Grille
Yachtsman Steakhouse

We have not dined at any of the above restaurants. I should mention that we are a party of five including myself, DH, DD7, DD5, and DD3. We are planning to have the girls with us at most meals; however, my husband's parents will be visiting the World too and are willing to spend time with the kids so that we can have a meal or two alone.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. TIA!

shula's without a doubt. it's definatly a night without the kids. they don't offer a kids menu, however they are welcome. it's expensive but worth every bite. we already have our ressies made for november. i would also say that for just a snack at night hit the pizza window on the boardwalk. it's so good. and it's fun to sit on the boardwalk to eat it and people watch. i would also stay away from espn. we went there on our last visit and it was horrible. both food and service. we will never go back.

you can get a gift certificate from resteraunt.com for shula's. i did and i got it for 2 bucks and it's worth 25. but you can only use one per visit and you must order two entree's.

For breakfast I would go to Kouzzina. They have some wonderful breakfast entrees that are a bit different than most of the resort restaurants.

Captain's Grille and Cape May

pretty much all the restaurants at the beach club/ boardwalk area are good! The Yachtsmen Steakhouse is one of the best imo. Beaches and Cream is a classic 50's style cafe. Its very cute in there and i enjoyed it! Cape May is also very good. there is seafood, mostly but i liked it! It depends what you like to, if you are open to any type of food then you will pretty much like any of them!

Via Napoli = very good pizza!
Beaches and Cream is very small and they don't take reservations. We have had no problems walking in at 11am for lunch, but not sure how crowded it gets during peak meal times. Not too much on the menu there, burger, chicken sandwich, fries, onion rings and of course Ice cream. They do have a take out counter for the ice cream.

We love Cape May for both the dinner as well as the character breakfast!

Flying Fish has great food and fun atmosphere. They used to have a Lava Cake for dessert which was delish! I don't know if they have it anymore, though

We love Flying Fish. Last trip our girls stayed at the Sandcastle club and my DH and I ate at counter seats and watched the chefs cook. It was really a lot of fun and our meal was so so good.

Yachtsman is by far the best in the area for a really nice dinner. Skip Shula's - it's way more expensive and not at all worth it - mediocre food and lousy service.

Beaches & Cream is also a must do. As has been said, they don't do ADR's, but usually it's not too hard to get in.

Also, the Cape May Cafe character breakfast is not to be missed!

We love Cape May for character breakfast and dinner, the beaches and cream is also very good, we ordered the kitchen sink its great fun!!

Beaches and Cream. They have some tasty sandwiches and great sundaes. We make a special trip to Beach Club at least twice while we are in WDW.

Another recommendation for Flying Fish here. The scallops dish is excellent. We'll be going back in January. We've been to Yachtsman. The quality of the meat was excellent and we'll probably go back sometime, but it was basically a steak house and we prefer to try restaurants that have a little more imagination in their menu selections. That being said we are going to try Shula's in January also. We are also looking forward to trying Il Mulino. We've also had a very nice dinner at Kouzzina. The whole fish entree was very well done. We've never eaten at ESPN or Big River Grille and probably never will, not or idea of a nice vacation dinner. If you like to hop over to Epcot through the International Gateway Bistro de Paris is a lovely restaurant for a quiet adult dinner with excellent service. We've been there twice and will certainly go back. Have fun and enjoy your trip!

It wouldn't be a BW stay without a few visits to the ESPN Club and Big River. Of course, we like our fermented hops and barley and Pub Grub suits us fine. It's a short stroll to Le Cellier, and in 2 days I'll be calling for our ADRs and that restaurant will be on our list. I second the pasteries at the BW bakery, the cheesecake is to die for.

Beaches and Cream would be an awesome low-key meal for the entire family, especially if you are spending the day or afternoon in Stormalong Bay and don't want to get super cleaned-up for a meal. The meals are simple, but reasonably priced and the sundaes are some of the best on property. Since you have such a large party, the Kitchen Sink would be a fun choice and a great dessert for everyone to share!
