Ime after some ideas on restaurants to go too as last time we ate we seemed to eat at ponderosa then grabbed something to eat in the parks. We had a couple of res for Character breakfast's, but would like to try some nice places to eat next time, but havn't got much idea. I thought if i asked you all what restaurants were your favourites and which ones you disliked i may get an idea of where to start.

Thanks Marv

Hi,
The Outback steakhouse , near Formosa Gardens in Kissimmee, is pretty good and they do takeaway also.
The Golden Corral restaurant is good for breakfast and evening buffets, similar to Ponderosa but generally regarded as better.
I have also seen very good reviews for Sweet Tomatoes, have not been there though.

If you are talking about off site then Texas de Brazil on International drive is good but pricey, even more pricey is Charleys Steak House, good value is Golden Corral as it is a steak buffet in the evenings, steak and shake (192) is good value and quite nice, personally I like Boston Lobester Feast.

sweet tomatoes is good, though not fancy or anything like that....but for me, a vegetarian, i thought i'd died and gone to heaven..

onsite restaurants we like:
--Citricos at the GF
--the coffee shop at the GF (i can't remember the name)
--50's Prime Time Cafe at MGM
--Whispering Canyon at the WL

Hi there,

We had fab meals at the following places onsite:

Flying Fish (Boardwalk)
Le Cellier (Epcot)
Hollywood Brown Derby (MGM)
Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge)
Spoodles (Boardwalk)

There were more meals that wer brilliant as well but these stood out!

Offsite, we like

Bahama Breeze
The Outback
Olive Garden
Red Lobster

All of which offer a slightly more upmarket meal to Denny's, IHOP, Chilis etc which we also enjoy.

Are you asking for breakfast or lunch/dinner?? If it is brekkie then you must try Boma's at Animal Kingdom Lodge, great food and a wonderful hotel :)
Claire ;)

onsite

le cellier
concourse steakhouse
wolfgang pucks cafe ( downtown disney )
my top three :)

My top three from our last trip were -

Bistro de Paris/Chefs de France
'Ohana (as always :) )
Brown Derby and Le Cellier (joint)

Best by far - Jiko's
Worst considering all the hype it gets - California Grill.

i totally agree with your worst.....we couldn't believe it....and the noise level was outrageous for what's considered a classy restaurant....terrible...

another restaurant to avoid - 1900 park fare..
if you want a character meal, try one of the others....1900 park fare is terrible...

We have always gone to 1900 Park Fayre and had an excellent meal but I must admit it wasn't as good this time and we probably wouldn't go again.

we went there years ago for dinner and thought it was great...
but 3 weeks ago we went for breakfast and it was terrible...
the chystal palace was much nicer for breakfast.....much much better selection of food...and not nearly as noisy...

For great value and a break from junk food you cannot beat sweet tomatoes. Very clean and big choice. We also like Chicago uno's if you are into pizza. Love Crystal Palcae and The Garden Grill for real traditional american home food with characer interaction. Also Wild Jacks in I-D is good for steaks etc and has a good atmosphere. :sunny:

another vote for the Outback (just had a lovely meal this weekend at one of the english ones we even had a bloomin onion as a desert thought we were mad) Chillis, tony romas best to go on a mondays for there all you can eat ribs deal, the new smokey bones that has oppened, for a afternoon meal we like chic-fil-a makes a ghange from red meat we like to have a blizzard ice cream from dairy queen ,dounuts from krispy kream (from hess onsite or from supermarkets) or dunkin dounuts which have baskin robbins icecream.Onsite Bomas ,earl of sandwitch, ghirdellies ,rainforest cafe (starting to get a litle dear now) and sometimes bad service

Our Top 3 (DW & DSx2)

1. Hard Rock Cafe, not cheap, but everyone enjoyed the atmosphere & the food.
2. Wolfgang Puck, again not cheap. Seared Tuna was awesome
Jt 3rd Chilli's & Golden Coral. Good quality cheap food. The kids especially like being able to go & help themselves at GC.

Worst.

Garden Grill at Epcot. The kids loved the chracter interaction, but the food was pretty poor especially for the price.

Hi

The Places We Loved:-

Garden Grill - Excellent food, great prices, service friendly and excellent character entertainment
Rain Forrest Cafe - food is great and the atmosphere was really impressive
Planet Hollywood - My dh loves the film memorbilia and the food

We didnt like and would never go to:-

Sci-Fi Theatre - Unless your a party of 4 you have to share your car with another couple you could either be in the font or the back. Liked the setting.
50 Prime Time - Expensive, Food & Service quality Poor
Yachtsman Steakhouse - Yacht Club the food was delicious, service was great, but it is expensive.

Thanks for all yous replys. Thats a shame about Sci-fi as we are a party of 5 and would want to sit together.
Where is sweet tomatoes? i may try this as you all say good things about this resataurant. What type of food do they do there?

Thanks again Marv

it's a vegetarian's paradise, but they also do have some meat...
let's see....when you walk in there is a HUGE buffet in front of you with tons and tons and tons of vegetables to make your own salad ......also there are some prepared salads that you can take...(like a super yummy caesar salad)..

you can take as many plates as you want and fill them as high as you want...it's all for one price...
anything you can think of that you would want to put on your salad is on this buffet (including chicken, turkey, and some other stuff like that...i'm a vegetarian so i didn't pay attention...)

at the end of this buffet, you pay...but the food keeps going and going...
right after where you pay is where all the tables begin....but around the corner (through some of the tables) there is another buffet....and you are entitled to all of the food there as well....
at one section there are a few soups....at the next section are baked potatoes and baked sweet potatoes and various 'stuff' that you can put on top of them (bacon bits, butter, sour cream, etc.)...next is fresh bread and muffins....oh and corn bread....(yummy)....then comes the pasta bar....there are prepared pastas, with sauce already on them....and also plain pasta that you can take and put whatever you want on it (there are sauces and stuff there for you to do that)...
and then comes the desert area.....there is a fresh fruit buffet...
and then the best part...a make your own sundae with soft icecream (chocolate, vanilla, and twist)...and all the fixings to go on top..
and remember...this is ALL you can eat....and lots of people eat and eat and eat and eat..

oh...and i think there was also cake by the muffins...
since i never got beyond the salad bar i can't really say for sure what else was there.....

we ate there about 6 times and really enjoyed it....oh...and everything is VERY fresh....very very....

yummy.....but then again, that's a vegetarian talking...but even my daughter, who's very carnivorous, loved it and asked to go there several times....(she's a pasta person...oh yes....there are also cold pasta salads in the salad buffet area)....
