What restaurant would you splurge on?

Everytime we go to WDW we do a "splurge" dinner. Last year we went to California Grill, love the sushi!! I have NO idea which one to do in DL. We will be having a split stay btw PPH and DL. We are a party of 2 adults, a teenager and a 5yo. Our favorites are sushi and steak. Which restaurant would you pick to splurge on? We'd like to stay onsite. Any advice or suggestions would really be welcome.

I recommend Steakhouse 55 in the DLH. Blue Bayou is also a nice experience if you have not dined there previously.

You want atmosphere and experience: Blue Bayou...but food is generally "meh".
Exceptional high end food and a gourmet meal: Napa Rose...but can get pricey.
Great food with dead cow: Steakhouse 55...but not much in the way of theme.

My favorite is Napa Rose

If you want a complete splurge, do the "Chef's Table" at Napa Rose where they custom build your multi course meal and it can be a 2 hour experience. You can request the Dessert Counter with your kids and be seated with the pastry chef whipping up all the desserts.

Unfortunately no good sushi options st the DL resort...I am waiting for the day!

Carthay Circle in DCA is pretty fab. Wine Trattoria too. DCA caters to more adult fare on the restaurant side.

We're headed to CA is July, and we've talked about going to Northwoods Inn. It would definitely be a splurge. All I want is the bread though. I have very fond memories for 30+ years ago of that bread

My idea of splurging is Big Thunder Ranch. I'm a BBQ all-you-can-eat kinda guy, though. This trip, we're actually trying out Blue Bayou and Carthay Circle since it will be our last trip for a long time. We did BB back in '06 and I don't remember being that impressed, but the kids will probably like it this time around. And Carthay Circle - with it sitting in the middle of DCA, I figure it's my Disney Duty to eat there at least once.

Normally I would say Napa Rose Chef Counter but with the 5 year old I'm not sure that's the best option. Certainly the dining room is great too if you choose Napa however.
I also would recommend Steakhouse 55 and lastly Carthay Circle.

It's usually best to review the menus to check if it fits with your family's needs too.

Napa Chef's I would recommend... Table service at Napa.... I was let down last time.

I think for food, service, and ambiance, Napa Rose is the best Disneyland restaurant.

Steakhouse 55 is very good for food and service but we didn't care as much for the atmosphere (windowless, masculine, and clubby).

Blue Bayou is actually pretty good for a theme park restaruant. But not quite as good as the above two for food and service and, while I enjoy the atmosphere more than Steakhouse 55, it's very dark and the tables are very close together.

Carthay Circle is also pretty good for a theme park restaurant.

LOVE Steakhouse 55 !! Blue Bayou is unique....how often can you dine in Pirates??

I think your kids would love the atmosphere in Blue Bayou, and the food is pretty awesome, too! It isn't the most fancy option, but it is the most FUN! Plus you can hop on Pirates before or when your dinner is over and take a relaxing ride, checking out all of the other diners! The menus are all online and I believe BB has a steak and lobster combo regularly.

Carthay Circle was great for us, too, and there is the option (although with a limited menu) to do a package with World Of Color Fastpasses. The regular FP'S you can pull for WOC have excellent views, so a package may or may not be worth it to you.

My husband had a delicious steak and eggs breakfast at Steakhouse 55, and it was totally affordable! There was only the NY cut available if I recall correctly, with many more offered at dinner. The other menu options for breakfast sounded awesome, too.

I have yet to try Napa Rose, but I look forward to it someday!

Catal in Downtown Disney has an interesting menu, and pretty good reviews. Plus, if you're going around a birthday, the Patina Group, who owns a few of the DTD restaurants, offers a 30.00 off purchase coupon if you sign up for their online club.

If you love BTR, then make sure to go before the end of the year since it will be closing in 2016!

My kids absolutely LOVED Blue Bayou. Being next to the Pirate ride and feeling as if you're dining on a patio under the stars is very cool. I also like the food very much and so does my family. We often split meals, too.

I love Steakhouse 55 for breakfast, but not a big fan at dinner. I find Carthay and Napa Rose more interesting for adult dinners than family dining, but each family is different. My kids are not interested in spending 2 hours eating a meal at Disneyland, regardless of food quality and atmosphere.

I also am a big fan of Jazz Kitchen in DTD, but again, not so much for kids.

My #1 choice in your situation would be Blue Bayou.
