DF and I are starting to plan out next Disney trip for the beginning of 2009. We have only ever stayed at POFQ and Pop. Next year we would like to stay at a different hotel, not a moderate or value resort though. We are looking for a hotel that has good restaurants, good transportation and nice views. Grand Floridian is probably the only one that is a bit out of the budget. Besides that does anyone have any suggestions? TIA :tink:

You can't go wrong with the Wilderness Lodge ! We love it there. Artist Point and Whispering Canyon are great, as is the lounge at Artists Point. Transportation is by bus or by boat, which is a great alternative. And the the inside is absolutely beautiful ! Good luck !! :thumbsup2

POLYNESIAN And you have great food with the KONA CAFE:thumbsup2

Yacht Club! I love the decor, and the Boardwalk area (YC/BC/BWI) is great for adults with lots of restaurants and a nice walk to the World Showcase in Epcot.

There isn't necessarily good transportation at YC (buses to MK and AK, walk only to Epcot, walk or bus to DHS), but it seems like a great location for adults (eat/drink your way around the WS and walk home).

And I don't know about the views, either , at YC.

I also have to add - even if you aren't staying at the Poly, Kona Cafe is great!

If I were going for a great view, I'd look at the MK resorts (Poly, CR, WL). With monorail resorts or Epcot resorts (like YC/BC/BWI), you will have easy access to a number of restaurants.

Our 2 favorite resorts are the Poly and WL ::yes::. The Poly has Kona Cafe and Ohana that are both awesome restaurants; while WL has Wispering Canyon and Artists Point. Out of the 2 at WL we've only eaten at Wispering Canyon (which has great food and is also fun), but I've read many great reviews on Artists Point ;).

We stayed at WL in April and really enjoyed it. We'd really like to stay at the Poly and it will happen in the future. We're in the midst of deciding whether or not to go in October as ATA (American Taekwondo Association) Fall Nationals are at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex and DH and DS would like to compete. We had to cut our April trip short due to me becoming very ill and needing to go home to be treated by my own doctors. If we go to Fall Nationals we'll either stay at a Value or a Moderate because of the expense. I've also heard a lot of nice things about YC/BC. It all comes down to what you are willing to spend.

I would say Poly,

Now I have never stayed there before but it looks ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!

Deluxe resort at a cheaper price and the boat to FW, Trails End has the best buffet on property. We've stayed here the last 10 trips and are booked for this Sept/August trip courtyard view, had AAA discount but saved another 600 buck just switching to AP rate yesterday, got to love them discounts, just about paying moderate rack rate price for a WL courtyard view.

If you like Epcot and swimming, I would reccomend the Beach Club. It has the best pool on property and is a short walk to Epcot and a boat ride away from MGM (oops, DHS). There are a myriad of dining options on site along with the Boardwalk eateries and those at the nearby Swan and Dolphin. We like the laid back feeling we get there. Other options in the same area are the Boardwalk in and the Yatch Club. The Beach Club and Yatch Club share the same awsome pool (Stormalong Bay). During Epcot hours, you can also walk through Epcot to the front gate and ride the monorail to the Magic Kingdom.

I would say either the Poly or Wilderness Lodge. We have never stayed at animal kingdom lodge but we were there last week for dinner and we walked around the porperty and even by the pool all you smell is animals, it was like being in a zoo in the middle of summer and just smelling animals. I don't know how the people with balconys could sit out there and enjoy them and just smell that stink all day long....

Another one for the Contemp. :cool1:
We have only stayed in MK view. :lovestruc However I think Bay Lake would be a great view too. (Just not as magical. :rotfl: )
We have also stayed in WL (courtyard) and GF concierge (MK view).
Can't go wrong with any. But still like Contemp best so far.

Polynesian or Beach Club.
The Poly is great because of the monorail, short walk to the TTC and Epcot monorail, lots of dining options, and close to MK. And the grounds are beautiful.
BC if you intend to spend a lot of time in World Showcase - can't beat walking back to your resort in 5mns after Illuminations !!

If not the GF I would reccomend CR or Poly, being on the monorail system is the best luxury you can get

I would say the YC/BC resort or the BW. Being in the Epcot resort area gives you fantastic dining options between the BW and the International Gateway to Epcot.

If you care alot about the pool, then YC or BC since Stormalong Bay is really fun. We've stayed at YC and had beautiful views of the BW across the lake, the pool, and we've even been able to watch the fireworks part of Illuminations from our balcony.

From any of these resorts, you can walk or take a lovely boat ride to Epcot and DHS. (I'm assuming no kids, so the monorail isn't as big a draw if you're not spending lots of time at MK.) Because you enter Epcot from the "back entrance" you can spend the evenings there having dinner, etc. then when everyone pours out the front entrance to the monorails and busses, you can slip through the uncrowded back door and be at your hotel in no time!

Also, we've watched Fantasmic at DHS and then went to the boat launch line, which was much shorter than the lines for the busses!

You are newly married or soon to be? I would go with BWI, as there is a lot to do in the evening and you can walk to Epcot.

:thumbsup2
