I need some help getting a rental car for my dad. It will be him, my mom, sis and her two ds's both in car seats. I talked to my dad today and he has a Buick Lesabre booked through Avis for $389 Oct 1-8. I think that is outrageous :scared1: For one thing I think my sister could squeeze in the back of a smaller car for one week. My dad seems to think that a Taurus ect.. is to small. I tried telling him it's only for a week. Granted we might go to a beach one day. Otherwise it will be to our condo and back to Disney or shopping 10 min away. My sis is tough she can handle it. They are helping her out enough already. He needs a car company that won't charge for the extra driver. Someone reliable of course because he has already told me who he doesn't want. He hears one story and the place his doomed ;) But of course if I am going to help him I want to do a good job or I will never hear the end of it! Thanks in advance :flower:

National will not charge for the 2nd driver if you are a member of emerald club and the driver has the same address as the person renting the car.
I have had luck with L&M not charging for the 2nd driver but my 2nd driver has my same address also. It couldn't hurt to ask them if they will waive the fee if both drivers have their own insurance that covers rental cars.
I don't know any other rental car companies that will give free 2nd driver, most charge about $10 per day for the 2nd driver. Peggie

If you are a National EA member your spouse can also drive the car with no additional fee. When my sis went down last summer I think she paid something like $20 per day (don't remember exactly, but I know I thought it was really high) for her 22 yo son to be the second driver. Keep checking on your rates - that does seem really high  - I have a full size (coupon upgrade to SUV) for 11 days in early Oct for 240.- I made the reservation several months ago and they are a lot higher than that right now, but they often go down 60 - 30 days before - I always keep checking and my rates have always gone down - sometimes several times. :smooth:

I've made a reservation at Alamo using the Entertainment card coupon, and on the confirmation it says "(1) Additional Driver Included". I think I remember reading that the same thing applies at some companies if you're using the Sam's Club rental codes, but I can't remember the details. Perhaps someone else here can help or confirm.

But, I'd say Alamo with Entertainment card coupon is worth a try, and it's at the MCO terminal too!

the "free" ones, anyway, all have to have the same, documented address/spouse as the "rentee". (we're trying to find the lowest rate for a third driver, different address)

To be honest, I haven't read the "join our program, extra perks free" stuff yet.

HTH!
