What reminds you of past WDW trips?

Is there anything that always sets you off down memory lane and brings to mind your trip(s) to WDW?

The most bizarre memory-trigger I have is when I'm sorting the clean socks and putting them into pairs. Don't ask me why, but it always reminds me of changing trains at Reading on our journey to Gatwick before our second trip to Orlando! :crazy:

Mowing the lawns makes me think of playing mini golf (I guess it's to do with the grass).

What reminds you of past holidays?

It's a bit of a cop out, but I would say that just about everything reminds me of going to Disney. :o :teeth:

I think it's because I'm rather desperately in need of another Disney fix at the moment and I've still got quite a wait until our next one.

Smells are high on the list (although not socks thankfully, Hilary). All of the following are guaranteed to elicit a "Ooh, smells like Florida" reaction from my two girls:

Cinnamon;
Air conditioning;
Escada de Margaretha Ley (the perfume I bought in Duty Free on our second trip in 1996 and wore for the duration of the holiday);
erm...well that's it on smells, I think, so not as many as I thought!

This is a thread that could run and run. I know there are things which have the ability to instantaneously transport me there, but I can't bring them to mind just a the moment.

Hearing the "True Colours" song(pre show honey I shrunk the audience).

Or Norah jones(dont know why), reminds me of driving into WDW, so whenever we hear it, me and DH turn to each other and say "Ah Florida"!!!

It's smells for me too - air conditioning - especially in a car and sun tan lotion, and usually whatever kind of deoderant, shower gel and perfume I used on the most recent trip.

Other than that I have reminders all over the house - photos, posters, prints, mugs, plates, salt and pepper sets (:rolleyes: ), and of course my snow globes. Not forgettting my Spectromagic CD and Parade memories CD's!!! The music really does transport you back....::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Cath:D

PS Oh Hilary..........socks????

Samantha Mumba - can't remember the name of the song but was a hit in 2000 which was our first trip.

Ghost perfume - like Deb brought in Duty Free

:)

Hearing 'Love in an Elevator' by Aerosmith and I'm instantly back on Rock n Roller Coaster - never fails!

Astrid :)

Ooh yes - smells! I'd forgotten them. Cinnamon is definitely the one that does it for me :) Coconut is also quite evocative as we seem to have gone through various different sun creams, shampoos and lotions on holiday which all smell of coconut.
PS Oh Hilary..........socks????
LOL. I know, I know :rolleyes: The strange thing (well, stranger) is that it is only the train at Reading that springs to mind - no other part of the trip.

Looking at my Disney art work on the wall in my living room and at the pictures of DH and I in the MK which are in frames on our surround sound speekers.

Also when I see fireworks it reminds me of Illuminations.

DP very much agree's with you! lol.

I would say Air conditioning!! , And certain smells like sun tan lotion, make me want to close my eyes and be at disney! :o
Oh and when DD puts on her Minnie Mouse dress!! ahhhh!!

Aircraft vapour trails in the sky always make me think of the people on that plane and wonder if they are going to Orlando. I think 'Lucky people' and wish that I was up there on my way to Disney.

Also if anyone on TV says 'Welcome' in a particular way it always reminds me of the monorail system at Orlando International Airport. When you get on it there's a tannoy saying 'Welcome to Orlando International Airport', at least there was the last time we went in 1998. Its another 16 months before we get to check it out again!

This is a strange one, but bear with me....

If I open my car door, having turned the engine off, and my lights are still on, it makes a bing, bing, bing noise, that all American hire cars seem to, to warn you that the lights need turning off.

That reminds me of driving in Orlando.

I regularly do this on purpose. I have to close me eyes though, as cold, rainy Bolton isn't exactly a match for Florida.

Obscure, but it works for me:p

mkingdon - I know exactly what you mean!! :)
