I could not drink the "purpose driven"TM seeker sensitive kool-aid being force- fed in most baptist churches now....worship became "a show", and the sermons became Dr Phil pep talks.
GRACE is amazing.
I understand what you mean, but not all Baptist churches have given in to this kind of style.

Isn't that translated as, "Hear O Isreal, the Lord our God, the Lord is one."??JennyMominRI said:Shema Yisrael, Adonai alohenu, Adonai Echad

I agree with you that worship is led by The Spirit, not a rehearsed show. I went to a big, well-known conference a few months ago. The speakers are very well-known Christian "speakers." I paid a big ticket price, IMO, to be there. **That should have been my first red flag! *** Well, the entire time I was there I was realizing that it was just a big show. You could tell they had rehearsed what they were saying, and they were performing. I was so disappointed! What if the Lord had led them to a different verse, a different topic? I don't believe that they would have changed their words at all. I am not sure that they could have even heard Him! I told my DH that I will not be going again. I want to be fed THE WORD and worship in Spirit. I agree that I do not want a show.
I am also confused. a family friend is JW and although she believes Jesus existed she does not know him as Christ and does not consider him to be her Lord and savior.Since that is really what it means to be Christian I would not consider JW to be a Christian faith. I am always willing to learn more so if someone can explain please do.Zippa D Doodah said:Hmmm... I must confess ingorance about this as well. Not sure where I got this from, but I was under the impression that JWs rejected the divinity of Jesus.Guess I'm off to do some research so that my ignorance may diminish

just curious where you WERE going?? You can use initials if you want - I'll figure it out. Born and raised Southern Baptist here too, and I'm just wondering - no flames, I promise!TLHB70 said:I, too, am Southern Baptist. I agree with you. I do not agree with the above types of churches.
