Christian. Catholic to be exact. Born and raised Roman, married a Byzantine and now consider myself "bi-ritual." (Probably more than you all wanted to know. :teeth: )

I am a Christian. I don't identify myself under any denomination. I have attended many different churches...Catholic, Baptist, Congregational, Methodist, etc. What matters most to me is that Christ is preached and Him crucified. :)

Me, too. Currently we are members at a Southern Baptist church.

Non practicing Jew turned Episcopalian here.

I am curious as to the people who checked "Other".

What is "Other"?

I checked "Other" because I didn't feel like I fit in much anywhere else. I attend church with my dh, who is Catholic, but I'm not baptised, and have no inkling to be, and not really Christian, although I do believe in God. I'm currently looking into the Universalist Unitarian Church, and I think they'd fall under "other" also.

Southern Baptist since birth until about 3 years ago -

Presbyterian PCA now.

I could not drink the "purpose driven"TM seeker sensitive kool-aid being force- fed in most baptist churches now....worship became "a show", and the sermons became Dr Phil pep talks.

GRACE is amazing.

I'm honestly not sure what to check. I was raised a Presbyterian. But I find it hard to check the "Christian" box because of the horrific way the right has twisted the word.

We were married in the Unity church.

That is a real shame. Because being a Christian should mean exactly what it was meant to mean  - a follower of Christ - no more and no less.

Your statement made me kind of sad. Being a Christian should be about following Jesus, not following Jesus AND this or that political party. Jesus' Lordship surely does put the kingdoms and nations of the world in their place, but it is all secondary to his Kingdom. If Jesus were conducting his earthly ministry today I doubt he would give George W Bush (or Bill Clinton or whoever is elected in 2008) the time of day anymore than he did Caesar.

I was raised pentcostal then moved my membership to southern baptist when I married DH in '87. I really dont put stock in what kind/title of my church as long as the word of God is preached. I like up beat worship music. I have just found my new church since I moved and I love it. It is HUGE and is growing by leaps and bounds.

ETA: I dont always follow the thoughts of Jerry Faldwell, Pat Robbins and such. I think they have gone crazy and have lost sight of what being a christian means.

I found the info below about Jehovah's Witnesses. I will still do some more reading, but it would seem like several sites I perused agreed that JWs believe Jesus was created, and not divine.

Enjoying the thread!

Since JWs do not believe in the Trinity, they also do not believe that Jesus is God in the flesh. They add the word "other" four times to Colossians 1:16,17, teaching that Christ was God's first creation, i.e., the reincarnation of Michael the archangel created by Jehovah, rather than the Creator. [The "Watchtower" teaches that Jehovah God created Michael the Archangel before the foundation of the world; Michael was His only begotten son by virtue of the fact that he was the only creature directly created by Jehovah. It was this created Michael who became the JW Jesus (i.e., a denial of the eternality of Christ). JWs say that "Since actual conception took place, it appears that Jehovah God caused an ovum or egg in Mary's womb to become fertile, accomplishing this by the transfer of the life of his first born son (Michael) from the spirit realm to the earth" (Aid to Bible Understanding, p. 920). "Marvelously, Jehovah transferred the life-force and the personality pattern of his first born heavenly son (Michael) to the womb of Mary. God's own active force, his holy spirit, safeguarded the development of the child in Mary's womb so that what was born was a perfect human" (Reasoning, p. 255).] JWs also add an "a" in John 1:1, making the verse read, "the Word was a god" (which in essence, makes the JWs guilty of the same polytheism of which they accuse Trinitarians).

i don't attend church on a regular basis, but i was raised southern baptist. the politics have made it too hard to go to church. i'm not interested in worshipping people or positions in an organization.

i am fascinated by catholicism. my brother is considering converting.

Christian.

Baptized in a Methodist church as a babe.
Raised in a Mennonite (bet I am the only one here) church.
Now a member of a non-denominational church.
Continually learning what it means to be relational with God. :sunny:
