What queues are "must see" and what's fine to skip if purchasing Lightening Lane?

I don't mind crowds and waiting in lines (within reason) but I am going with my fiancée - his first time at the parks - and he hates crowds and standing in lines. 🤯 I know this isn't ideal but I am using Touring Plans to make it as easy as possible for him. (Along with a generous amount of prepping on what to expect) I want to take advantage of Lightening Lanes to help speed things up but I think I personally want to see the queues for Ratatouille, Rise of the Resistance, Guardians of the Galaxy, Smugglers Run, Runaway Railway, etc. Are these queues worth skipping or are they must sees? Do you see them if you use LL or see some portion of them? I love the Avatar queue but hate waiting in the Seven Dwarfs queue. What I'm hoping (fingers crossed) is that we can purchase LL at the beginning of the day and then go back again in the evening to ride again and go through the queue. I read that RotR had hidden things to find and also had the game on the app. Any other cool things in GotG? I'd love your advice on what to see and what's fine to skip and any advice on this in general.

I thought the RoR queue was really boring. I would definitely opt for LL passes for that ride if you can get them. I think you still have to walk through most of the queue to get in the ride anyway. And it may break down and you'll be stuck standing there anyway.

If youre doing the in app game, RotR queue has some elements, but not enough to make it the whole queue interesting. Several of the codes were duplicates that the kids got out in batuu, so not really worth staying in the line for the line sake.

mmrr, skip the queue. You are not missing anything but the outdoor sun.

smugglers, interesting queue and stuff to look at (but if FoP is your bar, it’s still below that)

RAT, interesting queue, but the interesting stuff is mainly indoors. You’ll have a lengthy outdoor portion to get through first. Again, below the FoP bar.

Personally, I don't go out of my way to see any of the queues. If there is an option to skip, I'm taking it.
Good to know!

Thanks so much! Good point about break downs and I'm glad I'd see some of it.

If you're awake in time for rope drop, Rise of the Resistance, Smuggler's Run, and Flight of Passage. I wouldn't wait in normal midday lines for any of them
I'm hoping to rope drop but we'll see how it goes. I'm cool with seeing them in fast forward mode as I walk through in an early morning queue. :-) Thanks for the opinion on skipping them during the day.

Must:
Millenium Falcon
Flight of passage

What I like and enjoy:
Tower of terror
Test track
Peter Pan
Dinosaur

Avoid at all costs:
Soarin
Slinky dog dash
Remy's ratatouille adventure (worst of all)

I think Rise of the Resistance is not worth the wait since you get the whole expierence anyway bc the ride is long and you dont lose that much of the queue

Of your list, definitely skip the queue for MMRR. I LOVE the ride but the queue is nothing special at all. Smugglers Run queue is fun to see once but only if standby is 30-45 minutes or less. Maybe at the beginning of the day or end. We’ve only done ROTR with the virtual queue but I don’t think you are missing anything there by getting an ILL. We did Remy’s with both an ILL and with a short wait in the regular line due to an after-hours DVC event. We did see some additional cool things in the queue but not enough to justify the kind of wait you will likely see during the day. Not on your list, but I really enjoy the Peter Pan queue if the wait is not oppressively long.

I enjoy the queues for:
Millenium Falcon
the lab in FoP , but the rest of the queue is forgetable

Ok, but not must do
Dinosaur you see the same in LL and standby.
Peter Pan, the interaction area is fun
RoTR was good to go through once, LL still sees the pre-shows.
Toy Story Mania
MMRR a few cute scenes in the queue, but worth skipping if you can

Avoid
Soarin
Jungle Cruise
Slinky
RnRC

To be honest, none of the queues is worth an hour plus wait. If I am doing a rope drop or park close line with a reduced wait, then I enjoy walking through the queues at 7DMT, FOP, and Peter Pan. Everything else is just scenery and pretty close to the experience you get in the LL queue, as most rides the LL queue parallels or looks into the regular queue at some point. GOG may be a game changer though--looks pretty neat.

A lot depends on how big a fan you are of the IP involved. As long as it keeps moving, I really enjoy the Little Mermaid queue because I spot lots of things from the movie and feel transported. So I can imagine Toy Story maniacs might feel like the queues in that land are enjoyable for them. Likewise, I just visited Batuu with a lifelong SW fan who could not stop taking photos and adored the attention to detail on at RotR and MFSR. We held up the line as she took photos of the lockers with X-wing pilot uniforms and gear.
So I would think more about what you've watched 20 times and expect to be more entertained in queues for those properties.

What a great question!

Our favorite queues are:

MK: Space Mtn, Seven Dwarves, Haunted Mansion, and Jungle Cruise (the best)

DHS: ToT, Smuggler's Run

EPCOT: Ratatouille

AK: Everest, FoP

I am not clear about which 'queues' you are referring to. Are these the 'pre-show' areas you go through before getting on the actual ride? When we were last at Disney and used a few of the FastPasses although the lines started in a different area, everyone still merged into a single line prior to entering any of the 'pre-shows'. Maybe you are referring to something else.

Yes, the LL and standby lines do merge, but before they merge, there's a different experience.

For example. there's a lot to see in the FoP queue that is completely bypassed if you have LL. However--and this is a big however--the OP said their friend hates waiting in lines and the line for FoP is often 2 or 3 hours long. Sure, there are some interesting things in the queue, but if the wait is longer than 30 minutes, I'd absolutely skip it. And everyone gets the same 2 preshows, no matter where they started out.

There is zero in the MMRR standby queue to see. Please skip that. And there's a huge part of that standby queue that's outdoors, where you can get beaten into a stupor by the sunlight and heat. Not to mention there's nothing at all there but the switchback ropes.

Now, the Peter Pan queue--that's something else altogether. If the wait isn't horrendous, I'd absolutely do the queue, because it takes you through the Darlings' house--and it's fantastically well done. Maybe even better than the ride in some aspects.

As for Rise, I've done both standby and ILL There's a little bit more to see in the queue, but, really, is it worth spending 2 or 3+ hours of your time to see it? I vote no.

I really disliked Remy, so I'd pay to get in and out of there as quickly as possible!

The queue for Expedition Everest is amazing and wonderful. If the line isn't heinously long, I'd do that.

The only difference between standby and LL for the safari is that the standby line goes on forever. They play some videos, but they're not worth waiting an extra 45 or 60 or 80 minutes to see.

Dino--there's zero difference between the standby and LL queues.

MFSR has an interesting queue, which, frankly, I preferred over the ride. But that's just my opinion, not a hard fact.

The Toy Story Mania queue can be tedious and exhausting. It's cute, but it's not that cute.

I have not yet been on Guardians.

Thanks for the list. :) What made Remy's the worst of them?
Well... Hard to get LL if you get started late. The queue can extended beyond the constructed area. The first half gives you only partial relief from heat or bad weather. And you never know when it ends, going from one room to the next.

This is not unusual, except that what there is to see on the second half is not a great consolation if you sweated it out in the first half.

We love the Haunted Mansion interactive queue. Well worth it, as long as the posted wait time is reasonable.

Seven Dwarves Mine Train also has a charming interactive queue. But that ride generally has a long wait time. Try it near closing time, or during the parade.
