We are going to WDW on Aug 16 and will be considering DVC. What properties aer still available direct from DVC? We will be considering BLT (which i know is available), BWV & BCV. Will buy resale if necessary.

Thanks,

Hi: The guides will want to sell the current properties, but if you insist on one of the sold out resorts, they can check to see what is available. Buying directly from Disney goes very quickly and relatively painlessly. You will be buying at full price however. Disney's financing is very easily done as well and for some reason it does not show up on your credit reports. You may want to consider resale; it will probably be less expensive. You will have to arrange your own financing. Resale will take longer since the contract will have to pass ROFR (right of first refusal). There is a thread on the Operations board regarding who has passed ROFR and at what prices. I bought 3 BWV contracts directly from Disney and 1 via resale in April of this year. The savings made it worth the wait for me.

:goodvibesJust wanted to add the TTS (The Timeshare Store for resale DVC) can help arrange financing; rate is the same as Disney or was back in 2007

We bought 160 "sold out" OKW points last March 2009. We told our guide that we loved OKW and that is where we wanted to buy. We got 160 2009 points, 160 2008 points (no maintainence fees on the 2008 points), no closing costs and the points don't expire until 2057. We're very happy with ou decision.

All of the DVC resorts can be purchased directly from Disney even though Disney is actively selling BLT, AKV, SSR, and GCV. Dvcnews.com has the latest information on Disney's prices for all of the DVC resorts. Here is a link to its site: http://dvcnews.com/content/view/227/173/

There are several sites that have listings of DVC resale contracts. The link for the TimeShare Store is in the upper right of this screen. If you want to buy BLT, then you'll probably buy direct from Disney. But for all the other resorts, you might find that a resale is cheaper than buying direct from Disney. Keep in mind that resales have higher closing costs than dealing with Disney (We paid $244.50 in closing costs on our 160-point contract in May). Another advantage to Disney is that, depending on Use Year, you might get points for 2008 as well as the full complement of 2009 points. On resales, you might find the seller has already used point allocations for 2009 or even 2010, so the resale contract is "stripped" of points.

One other thing: If you buy from Disney, be sure to get a referral from an existing DVC member. As shown on the dvcnews.com site, a member referral can save you up to $8.00 a point, or get you a free cruise.

Good luck on your decision!

Thanks for the great info. Didn't realize that only 1 of my 3 preferences is still active. Have already spoken to the folks at TTS and find them to be very responsive. If our decision happens to be one of those properties I have no reservations about using them. With this information I can now go about creating my endless spreadsheet scenarios complete with multi-tabs, maintenance fee calculations, break even cross-over scenarios in 5 year increments. Multi-color charts graphs and lines. Then I can create a powerpoint presentation complete with multi-media and video. Then, call the family together and make the formal presentation... Ok ok. It's only half as bad as that. I'll pobably wear my Mickey shirt for the presentation. :rotfl:
