What programs

I am very sorry for asking this question, i am sure its been asked, i just can't find the thread.
I would love to try and give the Disigning a try, what programs does everyone use?
and are their specific things i need to download like templates, or is that all in the programs?

I primarily use Photoshop Elements but can do very much the same thing with Paint Shop Pro. Also searched the web for free fonts and free clip art (google is a blessing).

Thankfully much free "stuff" is available online to enhance either of these programs with additional patterns, frames, shapes, etc. (PSP picture tubes too)
