HI, I was wondering what program u all use to create these cool disigns? Are there any programs out there that are free? Cheap? I really want to get into disigning! Thanks

A lot of the DISigners use Photoshop or a similar program. I think you can get Photoshop Elements for around $150. The cheapest thing you can use to DISign is Microsoft Word if you have it. Just like with photoshop...you can layer images and lettering.

Go to www.disneyclips.com or www.disney-clipart.com to find clip art that you can manipulate and put in front of other artwork without having a white box behind it.

Cut and paste the pictures you are interested into word.

When you right click on the picture, a picture toolbar will come up towards the top of your screen. In the toolbar is a picture with lines and a black dog that says text wrapping when you point your mouse at it. Right click on the icon and then a drop down box will appear. In the drop down box you will see two things to use for your pictures one is "behind text" and the other is "in front of text" these two will help you to layer your images on top of each other.

Also in the picture toolbar in the same dropdown box is an icon for "square" if you click on this icon...you will be able to move the picture all over the screen to where you want it.

You can manipulate your pictures making them smaller or bigger by pointing at the corners or middle edges then right click and drag the image to make it the size you want.

Text

Look for the tab at the top of word that says insert.
Scroll down and click on text box.

A big box will show up on the screen that says text box...ignore this box but look for your mouse that will show up as an +. Move the +/mouse to where you want your text box to go then right click and drag the mouse to make the size box you want for the area you want the name to go.

Then go back up to the top of word and click on format.
Then click on text box.
Look for the tab that says colors and lines.
In the fill section make sure the color box make sure it says "no color"
In the line section make sure the color says no line.

Then the background will show through behind whatever text you type in the box and there won't be a line around the text box.

Then you can type whatever you want inside the box by clicking inside the box and choosing font and size.

If the box isn't the right size you can drag the corners and sides to make it the right size.

This is great to use when you find a DISign that you like and want to add a name to it. For example, Natalie's great Mickey Heads...she has a lot of blank ones in her shared file that you can add names to.

Borders:

You can add borders to your pictures, text boxes or the page itself by going to the top of word and right clicking on "format" in the drop down box you will see "borders and shading" the borders will allow you to add a border to most anything and will let you choose the size of the line and color. The shading will allow you to color the background if you don't want a white background.

Hope this helps! Dolly

Just like with photoshop...you can layer images and lettering. Here is a t-shirt DISign that I made using just word.

There are several layers to this. The Disney ears saying "playhouse disney" is one. And all of the characters were seperate layers. I added the word "fanatic" as well and put the black border around the image. Check below the picture and I will give you some pointers on using Word to make some of your own DISigns...

What you can't do

You can not make the name DISigns where pictures are showing inside of letters using word. There are several great threads on this site like Kellybell's where she will make them for you if you don't have the right software or know how to use it. Otherwise, there is plenty you can do just using the software most people have already on their computer!

Hope this helps! Dolly

I posted a thread asking how you make these and now one answered me. I am glad to have found an answer. I never knew that you could use word to make these. I might have to try it one day.
