I have an HP Deskjet 810C right now but my scanner is not working with my computer and I have been seeing sales on Lexmark X-73 printer/scannner/copier,an HP PhotoSmart 7350 photo printer that accepts memory cards and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with either one of these and what would you very experienced scrappers say is the best printer for your photos? I use my printer mostly for my digital camera pix and would consider buying a new scanner if you guys say my hp 810C is OK. any and all please feel free to comment on your own printers & scanners...TIA Marianne

Hi Marianne

I have an Epson Stylus Color 760 printer which I find is more than adequate to print off my photo's from my digital camera. It is great for printing documents and pictures too. I just change the settings to suit my needs and it works out really well. I dont know the prices of these in the US but it is a 'middle of the road' price ranged printer here in the UK and I am more than happy with it.

I have just bought a new scanner - an Epson Perfection 1250 Photo - and this is brilliant. I can scan everything straight to my PC but what is the bonus with this one is the 'Photo' part of the scanner. This is an adaptor that sits over a template which you place on the scanner bed - and this then enables me to scan and print photographs from old negatives or 35mm slides. I am really pleased with this because a lot of my DD photo's of when she was a newborn are on 35mm slides (just because it was fashionable at that time) and now it costs quite a bit to get photo's reproduced from them. I can print as many as I like now and am really pleased with the overall performance.

I dont know if this information will be of any use to you but I thought I would let you know what I use and my opinions of them :)

My printer is a POS. :) But my dad has an awesome printer-- I'd give my eye teeth to have it. It's an Epson 1250. You honest to god can't tell the photos weren't printed at a photo lab. Even the enlargements! It's an amazing piece of equipment. It's also $450.

I have the Epson 780 photo printer and it is great, these are the printer the CK recommends for the print quality and archieval quality ink. When I use glossy paper you truly can't tell the differnece betwee pictures from the printer and the photo lab (I have tested by having one picture developed through an online printer and one through my printer and nobody can tell the difference.) I just love the crisp clear texture you get from the digital camera I have one picture of the kids in the leaves and I swear it looks like you can grab a leaf from right off the page.

I have two different color printers for my computer. The first one I got was a HP Deskjet 970Cxi it cost me $399.00 I was very happy with it. That was about 2 years ago. Well we all know how times and technology changes. I just recently purchased a Lexmark Z55. I LOVE IT! It prints the most beautiful photos. I do use Kodak paper so maybe that adds to the quality of the prints, but I was amazed at the clarity of the prints. The best part was this printer was only $129.00!!! I know in another two years or probably less someone will come out with one that will impress me even more and I am sure I will have to go out and buy it, but for now I am very happy with this one. I would like to get a new scanner that allows you to scan negatives and then print photos from the scan. Anyone got any suggestions???
