Thinking aobut going to Disney over our february break next year, which is pres. week.
The only thing that scares me is the airfare, we are a family of six, just wondering what prices everyone got for next week. Thank you so much.

No bargains for us. Flying SWA at $224 each way. I was able to use one reward ticket for one leg of a flight, but never saw cheaper prices.

I don't know if you have any flexibility. We are flying Southwest from PVD to MCO Wednesday 2/21 and returning on Tuesday 2/27. We originally paid $948.40 for 4 tickets but with sales and Dings we were able to bring it down to $548.40.

No bargain here either, Boston to Orlando was $417.00 round trip leaving Monday 2/19 returning Monday 2/27. However I had $400 vouchers for each of us so it only cost me $68.00 for the 4 of us.

I was able to book a non-stop to Tampa from BOS for $258 on Delta for Sat. 2/17-Sun 2/25. I think that for Feb vacation week, anything under 300 is great.

N/S Round trip with Northwest, DTW-MCO $177 (incl. tax) for 2/19-3/1. We purchased 4 tickets, it was the best rate for a N/S we could find.

We are also a family of 6. We got flights for $257 including taxes and fees from Portland, ME. We booked out flights in July. To get good prices you need to be ready to take the plunge as soon as they release the dates in June. I watched for a few weeks and found what I was willing to pay, out of the airport I wanted to fly out of, and booked it. To find these flights I checked airfares at least three time a day and many days I would check every couple of hours. I tried to tell two of my coworkers this advice and they didn't listen. One of them is paying $479 per person and driving 3 hours to Boston. My other coworker also has a family of six and couldn't find flights for less than $350 per person so they are driving to Virginia where they have family and then flying out from there. Unlike non-peak times, prices will not go down the closer you get to your dates. They will go up. Good luck.

Wow, I wish I was able to get fares that low! We actually cancelled our trip (scheduled for next week:sad1: ) because we were quoted somewhere near $1800 on SW for three people from NY to MCO. The rates in the Northeast seem to go up dramatically for Presidents week, or at least it seems that way this year. Ah well, keeping our fingers crossed for next year.

I booked 330 days last March.

$69.00 plus tax USair down (run by United 1 quickie stop) EWR
$129.00 Delta non stop LGA back home

= $220.00 with tax RT

DTW to MCO $134.00 pp including tax! Round trip! Got these back in Nov. for Feb. 19-Feb.27 We are a family of 5.
Our days were a little flexible, so I checked a few dates and those were the best prices; traveling on week-days.
I'm sure I found these fares due to the DIS boards and info found here!:yay:

I think I lucked out. We usually fly out of Albany on SW, and the school break weeks sell out very quickly, and are pretty expensive. So, on a whim, I checked Stewart Airport out of Newburgh, NY, and found that Airtran and Jet Blue fly out of there now. I actually found reasonable fares to Tampa for next week (this was on Monday 2/12). We have to fly out Monday morning and back on Friday morning, but they are direct fllights and were $94 - $99 each way. Not too bad for last minute on President's week. I don't think there was anything left for Orlando, but there were still some flights to Ft. Lauderdale.

I really like flying out of Albany (it is the closest airport to us, and easy to get in and out of), but the SW deals out of there have dried up a bit in the past year. I still fly SW for business out of Albany, but for family vacations we have been forced to head further south to Westchester or Stewart to get good deals.

I found the trick to getting cheaper rates during Presidents Week is to fly either on a Tuesday or Wednesday. That doesn't help if the kids are out of school from Monday through Friday though.

It didn't matter to us because we don't have children, and this is technically a business trip anyway. What really bugs me is that we end up using our DVC points for one of the most expensive weeks of the year. DVC points are more precious to me than the $$ necessary to fly. :lmao:

Where will you be flying from?

We fly BDL to MCO (or TPA if that's cheaper)
The last two years we've been fortunate to Have Rapid Reward tickets that we use for the outbound. This year we're coming back Monday night (2/26) for about $150 OW per person. However, since I always watch the fares, there was a very brief time that we could have flown down Tuesday 2/20 and back Tuesday 2/27 for about $250 RT. If you want to fly on the weekends the discounts are really hard to come by.

That is a good price. Actually anything under $300 from Portland is good. We booked our April 2006 flights in July 2005 (Delta $280) and never saw it get lower. I have flown in/out of Boston before and the drive home is too much, everyone is tired. I will pay the extra to fly out of Portland. I was lucky this past trip and was able to use skymiles.
Hope you all have an awesome time!!:thumbsup2

We needed to fly out tomorow 2/17. I could not find any bargains here. We are paying $139 one way. It seems mid week are cheaper. going home on Thurs and only paid $49 for ding. So it netted to a little over $200.
