What port adventure in Falmouth?

I am having a hard time finding something we would really like to spend the money on for our stop in Falmouth. I can't pick among the choices for Cozumel and Cayman, but I just am not seeing something that I am dying to do there. It's our first cruise, and my husband is not really the stay on board type.

Anything you've done that you would recommend?

I have twin boys who are 15 and a daughter who is 11. We are all pretty active and able to to physically do any of the excursions.

Thanks!

We didnt find anything we liked either for our upcoming Sept 3rd cruise and figured we would just enjoy the port and then get back on the ship and just relax.

In Falmouth, our daughters(14 and 17) loved climbing the falls and swimming with the dolphins. When in the Grand Caymans, we did the island tour that went to "Hell" and the turtle farm. My girls still talk about the turtle farm and we wished we had taken the tour that only went there. The girls were able to get in the tank with baby turtles and pick them up. There was so much to do there but we only stopped for about an hour.

The port in Falmouth is nice but it won't take you long to go through unless you choose to sit in a bar/restaurant for awhile.

We did the Irie Blue Hole with lunch tour with Liberty Tours. Highly recommend! Amazing company and an amazing tour, one you can't book with a cruise ship but instead in your own. One of the best we have ever done on the "islands" and we have been to many!

I think we didnt book anything in Jamaica because of dd's age, and the fact anything REALLY fun is a long drive from port.

If you're an active family I highly recommend the Tranopy Adventure. It takes place at Mystic Mountain and is a long day but well worth it. The zip lining is fast, safe and fun and the bobsleds are very fast but you control the brakes. The chairlift up to the top of the mtn has amazing views and the jerk chicken lunch was very good also.

Our 2 favorite excursions from all our cruises are the Tranopy and parasailing at Castaway Cay. My kids were 13 and 14 when we did it and they loved it!

I second the Blue Hole recommendation. We hired a private driver and went to Sun Valley Plantation first, then Blue Hole. We loved both.

In Cayman we did a stingray beach excursion also with a private company. I think, for the 5 of us, that excursion was our favorite of the trip - but a very close second is Blue Hole.

We are planning to do the Tranopy Adventure which includes zip lining and the bobsled ride. Given the ages of your children and that you are active, that might be something to consider.

We did the Dunn's River Falls with lunch break through Disney with 16 year old daughter and 12 year old son. I had originally planned on staying on the ship but kids really wanted to do the falls.
I was not too sure they'd enjoy an hour bus ride each way. Turns out they are still talking about this excursion as their favorite of the cruise. The bus ride was long but the host of the tour did a good job talking about areas we were passing through and keeping us all entertained. Only issue was the bus was very hot and not a comfortable trip. Also, the lunch break wasn't the greatest. Food was wonderful but there were two busloads of people at a place that could hold one comfortably. There were also a handful of stray dogs and cats hanging around that looked very hungry with ribs showing and my animal loving children were very sad seeing the starving animals and wanted to give all their lunch to the animals. Not sure if I'd go again due to the hour on the hot bus, but glad I went once as are the kids.

Do the Dunn's River Falls climb or the river tubing for an active family! We did both and they are awesome! Would do Dunn's, if I could do only one of those!

has anyone done the green grotto excursion? sound interesting

Yes, we did it last year and we really enjoyed it. :) There was a beach stop and lunch on the way back from the caverns and the beach was gorgeous. The year before that we went to the Good Hope Estate and had a great tour of the home and property as well as a great lunch.

My kids were 12 and 13 for Good Hope and 13 and 14 for the caverns.

It's not the most adventurous option, but my daughter (16 at the time) and I really enjoyed the Martha Brae River- so beautiful! You go on a flat raft with a river guide, and the trip also included a bit of a historical tour - we stopped at an old church where some locals were selling items. We also still had time at port for a Jamaican lunch at a cafe.
