Can't use this as an excuse. Found the best invention related to pin collecting in January. They sell locking pin backs. You lock them with a little wrench that is supplied. You get a pack of them for about the price of a pin. I guess there are between 8 and 12 in the packs - I'm not really sure. They are definitely worth the money if you wear them on the lanyard!

These collars can be found at hobby stores which sell flying model airplanes.
They are used to keep the wheels on some planes and some other uses!

TINKERBELLE! I agree that Ebay is addicting for the pin collecting. I wear my pins on my school ID lanyard around my elementary school (I'm a principal) and the kids love to look at them and talk to me about their favorite characters.

I've gone so far as to incorporate the Tinkerbell pins on the lanyards into my staff recognition program by giving PIXIE awards to staff members who exemplify:

Passion
Imagination
“Xtra” mile attitude
Innovation
Excellence

I then sprinkle them with pixie dust (iridescent confetti from party store) and present them with a pixie pin to add to their school ID lanyard. My thinking is that the pins are similar to the stickers football coaches give to their players when they make a key play. (I'm a coaches wife too!)

I just LOVE the pin collecting but wish they weren't so heavy so I could wear more on my lanyard!

I don't have a theme. I buy what I like. I love villians and princesses!

Amazing collection Mickey2000! But shouldn't you have a Disney movie playing instead of "Broadcast News"? :rotfl2:

We aren't serious collectors but my dd and I do it as a diversion... she collects Lilo and Stitch. I always get a pin for the resort I am staying at... I might start getting them for attractions or to try to mark a special part of a vacation. But generally I buy what I like... and trade for fun. I haven't a clue what is valuable.

We trade just for fun too and it is so much fun. My 11yo dd and 13yo brother in law became addicted. It was probably there favorite part of the trip. Me and my dd like to collect animals like the cats from aristocats, dogs from dalmation, mice from cinderella, etc, etc. My dh collects anything goofy and had to have one pin specifically from each park, it had to say epcot, or MK. The 13yo collected a little of everything.

I like collecting any pins I think are cute, but I love to find pins that show Mickey's toes... it is hard to find them and when I come across them I am always so excited :cool1: .
I do like trying to get the full set of the Cast Lanyard Series Pins. I always check out Dizpins.com and see what new is coming out. After I get the set I usually trade them, but I like to see if I can get the entire set.
My first ever pin trade was for the Heart Locket that opens and changes when you move it from Walt as a baby and Walt older. I will never trade that pin.
I went to the Mickey Statue Pin Quest the first day at NYC (lots of fun, but what a madhouse) and I made a pin trade with a CM for a Jiminy Cricket pin, I thought it was so cute. Well a little while later someone came up to me and asked me if I wanted to trade the Jiminy pin, and I said "I just traded a CM for it and I really don't want to trade it right now." The person was a big Jiminy fan and his girlfriend saw that I had a Jiminy pin on that he did not have and brought him over to me. I wound up trading for a really cool April's Foll Day pin, and I made their day, so it made my day.
I have had a few instances where it has made someones day and it just adds to that "magical" felling. :wizard:

WOW :earseek: Mickey 2000 ... that is a great collection!!! :worship:

I collect Piglet pins and would never ever trade any of them.

Of all the posts so far, I like the musical and Americana themes. Just learned that I will be getting a voucher for a lanyard and pin with my package that includes ME. We leave in 19 days so I should be getting it soon!

mickey2000 where did you get the frames for your pins thanks

Ah yes! I would love to know that too! I really want to frame mine from our trip! :)

I collect a lot with the year that I am there. I also get a lot of the ones that have a patriotic theme.

My big theme to find is pins that have the park icons (Tree of Life, MK Castle, MGM Hat or Tower and Epcot ball) I get REALLY excited when I find a pin that has all 4 park icons on it. I also like to collect pins that say Walt Disney World on them and I have a couple pins with Walt quotes on them. I really like these and am trying to find more.

Other than that I don't really do character pins just for the characters, but I also like favorite attraction pins.

Gabby trades for Lilo & Stitch, but doesn't like the 4 armed Stitch's. She also like Jessica Rabbit and patriotic pins.

I love Timon & Pumbaa and Ms. Piggy.

Basically, we collect what we like or what documents something special in our trips. I can't wait to do some CM trades this year. Maggie

I started out collecting Pluto, Minnie, Mickey and MVMCP pins. Unfortunately, I have now added: Fab 5, rides, lands, dining, the new global lanyard series, resorts we have stayed at or eaten at. It is getting very additcting and very expensive even though I buy off ebay. Now, I have so many pins I won't be able to get them all on the plane when we go in Dec. I will be over my weight limit with just pins alone, :rotfl2: so I will have to decide which to take and which to leave. :rolleyes1 Debby

I collect Tinker Bell - but I can't bare to trade any of them!!! :flower:

Mom collects...DB and I trade!

Mom collects Snow White and Cinderella....especially the mice!

My brother collects Grumpy and Dalmations...with some Star Wars thrown in.

We all get one from the resort we stay at.

I collect and trade whatever I feel like at the time...but really like the Mad Hatter....Mrs. Potts & Chip....Beauty and the Beast....Lion King....anything to do with tea...and mini pins!

We always have a quest....first was all the dwarves...next lanyard pins....then the smallest we can find (I still love to look for the mini pins).

I think this time it is going to the the cast lanyard pins that look like the old ticket books!

Toy Story and Steamboat Willie for me!!!! But as far as DH goes, he trades for anything that catches his fancy. :earboy2:
