Hi. October is a great month to go; we usually go the full week BEFORE Columbus Day since our schools have Fall break then. By the time we're leaving to come home that Saturday, the parks are definitely more crowded since a lot of people must have Columbus Day off and make a three-day weekend of it. And no, 'Jersey Week' is the earlier part of November! Oh, also we went one time the last week in October and the MNSSHP was sold out for the 31st.
We went to WDW Oct 18-24 last year and attended MNSSHP for the first time on (Sunday) Oct 19. The resort and parks were the most crowded we had ever seen them.
Previous to last year's trip we had been to WDW in September ('00 and '02) and early October ('91 and '93). I think the crowds tend to pick up later in the month because of the Food & Wine Festival and MNSSHP (even though the party is held as early as the 1st Friday in October). Plus, last year the Fairytale Package was offered and I think that helped increase the crowds also.
We're looking at going this year Oct 27-31 since DD has a Fall Break.
The Oct. crowds tend to stay pretty moderate in October. Food and Wine going on and the Halloween activities. If I choose anytime to avoid it would be around the Colombus Day weekend. We will be there Oct. 20-29--Pop Century (3 rooms).
If I remember correctly, the Sat. closest to Halloween, MK is open till late and gets filled early, but as long as you avoid MK that one day, you should be okay. I love the Food & Wine fest!
We were there for the last week of October of 2003, and we really didn't experience any crowd problems at all. Yes, Halloween and the 30th were sold out for MNSSHP, but even that wasn't unbearable. It's definitely a great weather and crowd time to go, in my opinion. My favorite so far, and I wish I could make it back there for this year's Halloween festivities!!
hi all
reading this thread is making me panic we are going 11th october-25th and i was told that it is not that busy, should i be worried or just relax and enjoy
We twnd to go late Sept/Early Oct,things do start to get busier on the run up to Columbus Day & the UK mid term school holidays. But nothing too drastic! E.g. last year for the first 2 weeks our average queue might be 20/30 mins by the last week it was up to 45/60 mins(I've been in the summer & queued 3 hours!!) so again it isn't too bad.The only thing I can't comment on is the Food & Drink festival ,as I've never been during this? As for MNSSHP the earlier in the month you go the less crowded it will be but it will still be busy!
