Thought i'd start a thread to reminisce disney parks food that we loved that isn't there anymore. I'll go first - i loved the chicken fingers before they switched to nuggets.

And from way back when i was little the small round orange juices that looked like it was in an orange.

So what food do you miss?

I still have one of those little plastic oranges with Mickey Mouse on the front - I LOVE it!!! As for the others, the buffet at Akershus before it went princess - loved that they served lefse and really miss it.

Caramel corn from Sleepy Hollow in the plastic bucket and you could buy refills for about $1-1.50 less than a new bucket.

Along with the yards of beer they used to serve at the R&C....and cheap refills......even go as far a the corn fritters from the CR, Fiesta Fun Center....way back when....

From way back - the Bread Bowl that the chowder came in at Columbia Harbour House.
More recently, my DH mourns the loss of the bowl of chowder/half sandwich combo at CHH.
I miss the Prime Rib dinner they used to serve at Rose & Crown too. Sunday Roast is not the same.
And the fried chicken sandwich at Tusker House when it was the best CS option at the AK., and all of WDW for that matter.

The orange shaped orange drinks were gooooooooood!!! I used to love them!!

I miss the apple/raisin pork chop from Captain's Grille--I also miss the Chicken Fingers.

Technically not park food, but the original banana stuffed french toast at the Poly. It was rolled in cinnamon and sugar and deep fried. And add me to the list that misses the bread bowls at Columbia!

The Rose & Crown had some great entrees including the Tourtiere and a Mixed Grill as well as 2 memorable desserts - the Sherry Trifle and the Raspberry Fool.

Long ago when it was called the Good Turn or The Land Grille there was a delicious seafood pasta dish called the Gulf Catch and a wonderful Cheese Bread on the menu.

And while I can't remember what it was called, Alfredo's di Roma had a silky smooth lasagnette dish.

Brown Derby used to have an Ahi tuna entree that was SUPERB.

The squaw rolls at the Garden Grill. They were a molasses roll, so good. When we finally asked why they didn't have them any more, we were told it was because the name "Squaw Rolls" was offensive to native American Indians. Oh...ok. So then I wondered, why couldn't we just change the name to molasses rolls and keep them, instead of eliminating them from the menu?:confused3

I noticed caramel corn in a bucket in Frontier Land just last Sunday. It was on the water side in a wagon. I don't remember seeing that there before.

Was the original banana-stuffed French toast different than the current Tonga toast?

And now that they've updated the Garden Grove now called Cheshire something across from the teacups ride, they got rid of the strawberry-vanilla ice cream swirl they had there - or maybe it was already gone, we haven't had it for a while.

I really agree, you could eat enough of their wonderful smoked salmon to justify the cost of the entire buffet! So many delicious and unique dishes were available.

Also, as we always make a visit to Downtown Disney at some point in our trip, I was disappointed that the fresh Rice Crispy treats available at Goofy's Candy shop are no longer available. I used to bring a couple back to the room to snack on throughout our stay.

Got to say...we'll be at the Wilderness Lodge and MK tomorrow for a quick weekend run at the Christmas festivities...love being close by.
:tigger:

My DH and I LOVED, LOVED Akesrhus Buffet before it went with Princesses also. We found is quaint and almost romantic the way the lights from outside filter thru the old style windows.

But most of all, we miss the buffet. Where else could you get a moose/elk stew, Rutabaga and mashed potatoes, Herring, Lefse, and Rice pudding? :confused3

I know some of those things are in the bakery across the way but it isn't the same.

Norway is not really known for princesses and princes. More like trolls and vikings.

Disney ruinned that restaurant with that change. It was our 'go to' ADR.

To answer the Tonga Toast question, the last time we had it it wasn't deep fried - just grilled - and it just didn't tase the same without the crusty fried cinnamon coating - but maybe they have gone back to the way it was before. My response may be outdated!

I also miss the fruity drinks served in fruit-shaped containers in the 1970's! Other than water fountains, there wasn't much offered for drinks in the MK, and those beauties were truly refreshing!

Also miss the Top of the World lounge at the Contemporary. My parents took us there when it was more of a nightclub scene and spoiled us with "shirley temples."
