So, this was inspired by this other thread What Others rave about and you just don't get it

I wanted to ask the opposite... What are things about WDW that other people seem to not care about that much, or even generally dislike, and yet you love it?

I'm going to start with Tony's Town Square at the MK. Everyone seems to think it's meh at best and terrible inedible at worst.
But we had an amaaaaazing experience! We had great service, everyone was so great about our birthday celebration and our parade table request. The food was so delicious, their bread with olive oil was heavenly! People seemed to say their tomato sauce was hideous and we loved it.
Maybe it's the lower season we picked to visit but we loved everything about it.

We're definitely going back!

Share yours! :)

I think I'm gonna go big and say Animal Kingdom as a whole. I know this is vague, but allow me to explain.
Almost everyone I know lists DAK as their least favorite park. I used to, too, but lately whenever I visit this park I find that I really, really love it! There's a lot to do and tons of my favs are at this park (Pocahontas, Everest, Flame Tree BBQ, etc). Every time I go I've been appreciating it more and more, and I think I might even (gasp) like it better than Epcot!

Also, obvsly agreed on Tony's. I have dined there more than once and had nothing but good experiences!

Animal Kingdom. I went with friends who proudly proclaim that it's their least favorite park and we only allotted about 5 hours to do everything that we wanted. I figured I would still like it since I'm big on zoos anyway and we could do the safari and meet some of my favorite characters, but I wasn't expecting to have quite so much fun. We did AK first, and in those short hours I had already felt like I had done SOOOO MUUUUCH I couldn't believe there was still more that we didn't do. And we didn't do A LOT. I need to go back and try the things we missed at least one time imo. But at least we saw Festival of the Lion King & met my girl Pocahontas

I'd like to +1 your Tony's, they made my birthday perfectly magical even on a rainy evening.

Maybe Philharmagic? I haven't seen this slammed anywhere like Tony's or AK but I don't see it raved about like Space Mt or Splash Mt, etc. But Philhar is so beautiful and I'm in love with it honestly

COPYCAT!!!!
I'm glad you enjoy DAK tho :) I must say our trip rly did start the turnaround for me, and after that I spent a few quality days there with friends in the past few weeks and boom all of a sudden I'm a DAK Stan

OMG BYE

I haven't told you this... but I think a part of me maybe, kinda, a little bit, likes AK more than DHS.

Maybe.

Idk, they're just tied for 3rd on my park rank.

For me it is AKL... People seem to love this resort. We own dvc and I can't bring myself to stay there. I went to visit Kidani and I guess the landscape is supposed to be African but it was just horrible to me. It looked just like burnt grass with very few animals. We were booked there once but after I visited I called and switched to SSR. Would take that any day over AKL.

We are among those who just adore Animal Kingdom even though many people gloss over it as a "half day" park.

But the top of my list would have to be the food quality at CRT. Everyone says it's mediocre to poor and you're just paying for the princesses (that sounds wrong), but we've eaten dinner there on several occassions and always really liked the quality of the meal.

IASW and PP. Dinosaur in AK, Primevil Whirl in AK, the movies in the countries in WS!

COP, I really like it and enjoy the nostalgia

Another vote for Tony's too

I too am an Animal Kingdom fan....2nd favorite among the "big 4"...and never understand the dislike of the park. For me, it is a better themed Busch Gardens plus it has some of my favorite places to eat.

DHS....food. It gets a bad rap, but I love me some Mac-n-cheese covered Hot Dogs.

Not planning....I know other love to plan for DIsney and (at least on this forum) seems to be the popular choice, but I much rather "wing it" while at the world.

The Hollywood and Vine character meal. We liked the food, the service was great and I loved the character interaction.

Animal Kingdom is our 2nd favorite park.

There are so many things overlooked but because it was just briefly mentioned I will say Mickey's Philharmagic. It is a must do for us and in the top 5 of all parks for DH. I have many friends who come home from WDW and if I ask them if they liked it they have no idea what I am talking about. It is one of the little things that shouldn't be missed.

Garden Grill. I love Garden Grill. I like the food even if it isn't exotic, I like the character interaction, and I like rotating through the ride below. Of course, I also like Tony's because I'm a big Lady & the Tramp fan.

Carousel of Progress is a must do for me, too.

Ditto, it is hardly ever mentioned and one of my absolutely favorite attractions ever. On our very first trip my girls were 3 and 5 and seeing Philharmagic was the best Disney moment ever:lovestruc

Mickey's Philharmagic in Magic Kingdom...there's never a line for this when we go...but my fiance and I just love it! All the characters...I tear up a little during the Peter Pan scene. It's wonderful! ::yes::

Living with the Land in Epcot...this is a wonderful, relaxing boat ride! I always feel like I'm special...going "behind the scenes". It's just interesting. It's always been one of my favorites.

Illuminations. Seems it's split down the middle between people who love it and people who hate it. It's just so magical to me being in WS at night waiting for Illuminations, and the show itself is really beautiful IMHO.

Seeing this I have to post that when my friend went last month (they too love Philharmagic) she bought some plastic jewels at a craft store before her trip and pretended to catch them during the Ariel part and gave them to her daughter. She said the look on her daughters face was priceless! It is moments like that that make me love WDW.

The Great Movie Ride :lovestruc People bash it as outdated and boring, full of things they don't recognize. Well, it's not focused only on more recent films, because it's showcasing movies as a whole creative genre...of which Walt Disney was one of the pioneers. I was really impressed with GMR and the great montage at the end.

Also, I've almost never heard mention of the Animation building displays. For starters, there is a case full of Oscars. Then there are GORGEOUS displays of backgrounds from many of the Disney movies -- wonderful paintings, sketches, and watercolors. Each display had a different theme like "night" or "castles". It's a great way to get lost in a quiet, air conditioned room for a while.

DHS!! I think Disney did a very thoughtful job with theming here. You can see a theatrical production in a Hollywood Bowl type setting, watch stunt shows, catch American Idol, take a Backlot Tour, experience some big names like Star Wars, Toy Story, the Muppets and Disney Junior (for the littles), and headliners like RNRC and ToT. You can learn to draw a Disney character and learn a little about movie history and Walt himself. Heck, even the eating establishments fit the theme, from the Brown Derby to Sci-Fi Dine-In to Dino Gertie's. Even the rock band has the day-jobs-as-landscapers story.

Duffy and taking his photos around the four parks (we never do the waterparks). We know that he did not enter Disney like most other characters, but we love him anyway.

DD14 enjoys dressing him up and planning where she wants to take his and Shellie May's photos when we go back. Right now she and DH are negotiating how many bears and outfits can make the trip. ;)
