Other than the traditional....under the tree...

Some I know give gifts on Xmas eve

Then there is the Xmas stocking

And some even do 12 days of Xmas where the kids get a little gift for the 12 days.

What creative ways do you give kids gifts for Xmas?

Karen

Have fun!!!

My kids like to put their shoes outside their bedroom on Christmas Eve. I think someone at school told them about a tradition where Santa leaves you a small gift in your shoes Christmas morning. I just take a small gift that they were getting anyway and put it in their shoes.

My Dearly departed Dad was the best gift giver....he did this even when we were teen agers!....would would open our gifts that were under the tree but then later in the day while we were just hanging out he would come in with another present saying Santa had just stopped by and forgot to give this to us...Then the fun would begin all over again!......

My kids have always had their own tree in their rooms so Santa always leaves a special present there.

Then you know 6 months after Christmas there is always a present "Santa" forgot to put out because she forgot where she hid it!!!!

TK:rolleyes:

Last year, my then-14yo DS, knew he wasn't getting his Xbox until AFTER the holidays and his BD, because they just weren't in stock. I made up a card for him, telling him again how sorry I was that he didn't have much to open, blah, blah, and, go look in my closet for a little something to tide him over. The system, 3 games, DVD remote and extra controller were all there!

Thanks guys for the FUN ideas...

Keep 'em coming!!!

Karen

:D

We usually just have the wrapped gifts, the unwrapped ones that Santa leaves and the stocking.

My son still has to open a gift on Christmas Eve, and he's all grown up

There is a book out called "Santa Mouse, where are you?" that I had when I was little. So not only did I leave cookies for Santa but cheese for Santa Mouse. (and I had long red hair too!;) , but I didn't get as many toys as in the ad on TV)
Anyway, Santa Mouse always leaves a small package on the Christmas tree for those who remember that he tags along with Santa. It was usually a bracelet or small ring, something like that.

DS will get to find the Christmas pickle that DH will hide on the Christmas tree Christmas Eve. (Usually a $5 item - some years a toy, other years candy item)
We did the 12 days of Christmas when DS was younger

well this year we are starting a new tradition
an elf is leaving new Pjs and a book while the kids are in the bathtub ( still trying to figure out logistics on this one lol) for Christmas eve.

They have Santa gifts, and wrapped presents plus we have little things that we do all day :)

DDs hang stockings on their bed posts Christmas Eve, which Santa fills with a small breakfast type snack, a small oj or chocolate milk, and a couple of small trinkets. They know that if the "bedsides" aren't filled, then Santa hasn't been. When they wake up to find them full, they know "He's been, he's been!", and it gives DH and I an extra 15 minutes or so to get ready for the stampede!

Binny we do the same thing! LOL! Up until this year it was easy the kids always took a bath together! But now they don't! I use to tap on the bath room wall kind of make a scrapping noise and would ring a bell as I ran through the house!
This year I have it all in our guest room and my mom (up from Florida) will have to put them out while we are watching TV or something!

We all open one present on Christmas Eve, it is pj's with as small toy to help them sleep. On Christmas day Santa brings unwrapped presents. There is always a family gift from Santa, usually a membership to the zoo. We all get Santa gifts. Santa always brings a toothbrush with the aall the treats. I really have fun with it.:D

I know I had great Christmases when I was a child but one stands out among them. All I really wanted for Christmas that year (I think I was 12 or 13 years old, maybe 14) was a pair of ice skates. Christmas Eve we opened gifts and I received several nice things, for which I was happy and thankful, but no ice skates so I was kind of bummed. Mom insisted we all jump in the car and go for a ride to see the Christmas lights. I tried to enjoy it and be cheerful, but I was just so sad that I didn't get the skates that I really, really wanted. But! When we got home Mom said "Hey, Santa must have left another present!" I went in the living room and there was a box under the tree, wrapped, with my name on it. I opened it, and sure enough...there were the ice skates I had been wanting so badly!! :D
