What order to split stay Poly & YC

I’ve got a lot of scenarios running through my mind right now, a lot of resorts and combinations of resorts juggling in my mind. One of them is to split stay Poly & YC. My ideal would be to do YC first, get Epcot and DHS days and a pool day at SAB, then flip over to the Poly and finish off with our MK days. The reason being I buy into the philosophy of always start at the “lesser” resort and end at the more deluxe one (YC lovers may differ on which one is which, I know).

Thing is, our DHS day would be quite early in an 8 day stay, and SDD FP would be a lot easier to get on the back end. Thoughts on that, or anything else that comes to mind about the above?

Also, never done a split stay, a little worried if this is the right approach for a family that is, if I’m honest, a little lazy, a little effort averse.

Thx!

There is a Split Stay thread on this forum. It should be on the first few pages of you could try the Search feature.

I love a Poly and YC split. To me they are great complements in terms of location benefits and vibe. YC is like the anti-Poly (meant in a good way) so you get two totally separate trips in one.

For us, we would only want Poly first and YC second, definitely not the other way around.

No right or wrong, just my opinion. Have fun!

We have done a split stay twice with the first part at GF and the second at BC. We thought that worked out very well. We went to AK from the GF and it seemed like it took just as long to get there as it does from the BC. We did not go to Epcot or DHS until we got to the BC. It was a great way to avoid the buses. :) But we also hadn't planned any of our park days when we booked the reservation.

I’d plan my stays based on fp availability. So I’d do a Poly stay first and go to only MK and Epcot. During my Yacht Club stay, I’d go to HS and Animal Kingdom and try to get slinky Dog and FOP fp’s. I’d also get a park hopper so I could hop to Epcot whenever I like as well during the Yacht Club stay.

The YC has a more recent refresh of it's guest rooms and many guests have indicated that it looks and feels like a more Deluxe resort. Room carpeting has been replaced with wood like flooring and the furnishing have been updated. They have added a sliding door to separate the sink area of the bathroom from the main room to provide / allow more privacy. SAB is a much more "deluxe" resort feature compared to the volcano pool and the oasis pool at the Polynesian.

Some love split stays and others hate them. Do you like to live out of a suitcase or do you like to unpack & pack everything up again to switch resorts after a couple of days? I would rather ride the bus for a couple of days to MK.

I love split stays and have one for my upcoming trip between Contemporary and Boardwalk. We are doing Contemporary first to have Magic Kingdom in the beginning of our trip. My reasoning for this is there are more rides there and easier to get fast passes on day 60. We are doing Epcot on our change over day so at the end of the day we can walk back to our resort and we can take the monorail there in the morning. You'll definitely have a better chance getting SDD FP near the end of your trip instead of the beginning.

Poly first and then YC.

We did a Poly/BC split before. We are very MK heavy at the beginning of our trips so it makes sense for us. Also at the end of our trips we tend to do more resort and pool time. BC was great for the that.

We just made reservations for July 2020 and did a Poly & YC split stay. We did Poly first. We always do MK first and in the middle of our trip we like to do a pool day. Our family opinion is YC is the better resort for a pool day. Also we have been to YC since the refurbishment and the room was beautiful!
