What one thing do you wish you had brought along?

Socks! And I don't mean extra socks...

I somehow left all of my socks laying on my bed at home when I was packing for our trip in 03. We got to the resort, started unpacking and.. where's my socks.. Come to find out I left them laying on my bed at home...

So, now I have ~10 pairs of socks with disney embroidery on them from the POFQ gift shop. I still wear them ;)

This happened to me only it was my girls underwear :earseek: It didnt just happen once, it happened twice. The first time, I packed them and my DDs (then 5 and 3) took them out. Of course I was completely unaware of this until I went to get them in their bag, but instead found some coloring books and crayons. They told me they took them out because they had no room to pack the "good stuff". Second time I just left them on the bed!

i am subscribing to this great thread as we leave for WDW in a couple of weeks and are in the homestretch planninig phase! Thanks for all the great info!

An extra pair of shoes in case you get caught in a downpour and your shoes are still wet the next morning. Believe me it happens!!

And make sure you have some warm clothes (jackets, gloves, hats, etc). It does get cold in Florida during the winter months, especially at night.

Wish we had brought gloves and hats for January.

Wouldn't go without a backpack.

Band aids. My DD8 fell and skinned her knee as we were leaving AK. The CM told me the first aid station was back in the park over the bridge. We were standing near the entrance where they check your bags as you're coming in, so I said, kind of loudly, "All I need is a Mom with a bandaid". A lady in line immediately said "I have one." You can always count on Moms! Usually I'm prepared for everything where my kids are concerned, but this last trip I forgot the pack bandaids, so of course something happened where I needed one!

Also, my DH uses a wheelchair when we are at the parks since he can't do much walking. He got a flat tire at the hotel, ASMo. They lent us a chair to use for the day and sent someone to the store to get a patch kit for us. My DH mush prefers his chair - it's lighter and more comfortable than the park chairs - so next time we'll be sure to pack a pack kit and a spare inner tube.

subscribing since I go in Jan. Wish I cold start packing but I at last have to at least wait till after Christmas because we have to go to KY for a week to visit my family..

Most indespensible item: Stain Stick! I decorate my shirts all too often. I save at least 2 shirts per trip with that thing. I would never travel without it.

Item that we forgot to pack.......The Disney Dollars. It's not good to get to the far end of the state and find this out. But, trust me, it's on the packing list this time. Maggie

I agree, the backpack was great! I used one for the first time a couple of weeks ago and loved it. It was small and lightweight, but perfect for a bottle of water, light jacket/denim shirt, hat, etc. Hardly knew I had it on! Some days I did use just a fanny pack, but was glad to have the option of the small backpack!

The things I now make sure we have are this, latex free bandaids, seems Im alergic to the normal type that we bought at All Star Music last year when DH got a nasty blister. And extra battery for my digital camera and Conditioner for my hair. When we got there the diffrence in the water from home turned my hair to straw. Couldnt find conditioner in the hotel and we dont get a car while we are there. I ended up going to the hairstylist in the spa and buying a $28 bottle of conditioner. It was nice but eek. I left the pricetag on the bottle in the shower, DH is in the shower and all I hear was $28!!! :confused3 What's a girl to do, my hair was like STRAW.. it was one big tangle.

I always wish I could pack one of those foot bath thingys! My poor dogs are always hurting by the end of the day! :dog2:

Ok, being more practical... I am always so thankful to have a large, zippered purse and Advil or Tylenol. When we have a fridge, we alwyas purchase food from the Goodings Market in the Corssorads center. It saves us a lot of money by eating in the room for breakfast (and sometimes even lunch). I hate having to pay $20.00 for breakfast...

I always pack to many clothes. You just never know what you will need. We between the end of December and the first part of February so you don't know what the weather will be like.

I always bring a box of baby wipes and small zip top bags. I put the wipes in the bag and they fit perfect in my belt bag or back pack. You never know when a wipe will come in handy. Chap stick is also a much needed item.

I agree with the glasses cords, bodyglide and Swiss Army Knife. What I really envied was the see-through backpacks some people had. Maybe not as durable as mine, but it was sure annoying to tear apart my bag when my dd needed a tissue. Or lip balm. Or water. Or . . . =)

If anyone in your group is allergic to anything, bring your allergy medicine. WDW is beautifully landscaped, which means there's lots to be allergic to. Sometimes when we travel from where it is cold to where it is warmer, we forget allergy medicine because we're out of the habit of taking it.

I wished I had brought Gyne- lotrimin. Ladies- you know why!

Hey....

I always make sure I have three things...

1. Sunglasses..... I have had my sunglasses for four years, and would die if I had to get use to another pair!

2. My Fanny pack/ Bum bag...... Not very cool, but it is a life saver! I can be uncool for one week! :rotfl:

3. Condoms..... I do not want to take home a souvenir that will show up in 9 months.... Trust me ladies... It happens!!!!! :rotfl:

I always throw a few packages of Dollar Store wire hangers in my suitcase. There are never enough hangers...and then I leave them for the next guest!

June

Let's see, hard not to repeat. Socks and sun tan lotion, sun glasses, all very imp't. I too bring the hand sanitizer into the parks but find a few wipes in a ziplock bag are just as imp't. Sometimes a wipe is much better!!!

I bring along kids chewable medicine so I don't have to worry about spillage. I've found the triaminic cough/cold to be REALLY good stuff!!!

Indispensible: SOFT Kleenex box in the room! I hate the hard stuff the hotels offer.

Picked up a tip about packing a outlet "strip". As time goes on, we bring more electical w/ us! LOL (Recharger for VSmile, video camera, electic razor, etc) Much more easily accessible and everything is in one place!

I will also add quart size ziploc bags for putting the camera in. I put the bag around the camera and shot pictures during the parade in the rain. Also to protect from wet rides.
