...biscuits and gravy?!

I know this should probably be in the food section, but I am hoping that someone from the UK can explain what it is!! We currently have images of chocolate digestives and a jug of beefy bisto!

biscuits are our scones. :rotfl2: fab with butter and jam.
the gravy?!? :confused3 think I tried it but cant remember what it tastes like, its a white savoury sauce.

DH and I tried them with the gravy but they are too sweet for that. He likes them with butter and jam or dipped in maple syrup.

I remember the first time I visited the US and was at Kuntucky Fried Chicken and they asked me if I wanted a biscuit with my chicken, remember thinking what the hell are they talking about..

I'm the only (British) person I know who likes biscuits and gravy :thumbsup2

The biscuit is just a plain scone, but the gravy is a white sausage gravy - quite thick, white and creamy. Pretty sure it's calorie-laden too :). Think it's mostly a breakfast menu food and often features at breakfast buffets.

they are a very salty sticky version of scones. A bit like a cross between a scone and a stew dumpling. They are very addictive and in a few places my girls have eaten too many before food arives and not managed their diner!

This is how I would describe them. Definitely not as a scone but I think you summed it up quite well. I have to disagree on them being addictive however. Not really mad about them. DD loved eating them with maple syrup last year :lmao: When you sit in a busy food court and do that you are guaranteed plenty of attention (although nobody says anything to you - they shuffle a few feet away before nodding in our general direction ...)

Ahhh - thank you - I knew it would take some english explanations for it to make sense!

I have to say that the whole thing sounds revolting so I reckon I shall be avoiding that!!

I think you are very wise ;) Although you really shouldn't knock anything before you've tried it - you may like them ... with maple syrup :)

If you live in the Southern part of the US (as I do) biscuits and gravy are a STAPLE of living. With have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner! They are fabulous! I hope you get a chance to try them soon!:thumbsup2

I don't dislike, I just don't see a need for them. If there is bacon, sausage and egg why add biscuits and gravy? If that was the only thing on the menu I would have no problem eating them but far too many other things I would prefer to eat.

I have to try anything, no way could I say I don't fancy that, I want to taste myself, although Karen was not impressed with me and DS trying escargot.:rotfl2:

I LOVE escargot! I guess I have just ruined any hope of Karen wanting to associate with me. :lmao: Did you and Matt enjoy them by the way?

Again could eat them no problem but why? rather have a nice piece of garlic bread :rotfl2:

A few pics I have of biscuits & gravy

At Cheesecake factory (just biscuits) why include in a meal like this?

Another vote for biscuits and gravy. Thumbs down for snails though. Sorry you two:lmao:

The biscuits look good - its just that sauce!! I'm not a huge fan of sauces though, especially things like our white sauce.

I may volunteer my other half to try it - he is braver with food then me!!

I love them too. They are really nice with scrambled eggs.

Sorry I think that they are disgusting, especially the curried ones at Boma!! Scones should only be eaten with cream and jam.
