What on Earth is going on the first week of November?

There is virtually no availability at the Disney Resorts, even for splitting a stay. I know it is towards the end of Food and Wine, but still...the first week of November? My child happens to be out of school but I know that most aren't. Maybe a big convention? Cheerleaders are February and May, right? I know that Disney is getting busier, in general, but this surprised me.

An IT convention, a marathon, week before Jersey week, and end of Food and Wine Festival.

I think most people book their resort more than six months ahead, so it's sort of late now to be looking.

There is always offsite availability somewhere, if you can't find anything onsite.

I had already booked a week in the end of October, but was hoping to scoot it a week. And actually, I've often had good luck over the years booking in the fall at the last minute. Food and Wine ends November 12, so it must be the half marathon. November 2 - 4 are apparently almost in negative inventory. I was hoping to catch an AP rate, but I don't expect they will be setting any rooms aside with this demand. Thanks.

The Wine and Dine half marathon and Jersey Week happen in the beginning of November causing higher crowds and booked resorts.
Lots before, during and after...

Oct. 14-18 Gartner IT Conference
Oct. 28, 30-31 MNSSHP
Oct. 31 - Halloween
Nov. 1-4 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend
Nov. 4 - Jersey Week
Nov. 8-9 MVMCP
Nov. 12 - End of Food & Wine

How does one find out about what conferences/groups etc., will be at WDW when we are there?
I tried on Google but didn't come up with much.
Any help is appreciated! :flower1:

Have fun at Disney all!!

I used to work at the Disney Reservations Center. This really isn't true.

Certainly, "once-in-a-lifetime" and trips with longer stays tend to get book far in advance. But, shorter trips for people within driving distance are not booked 6 months in advance. In fact, Friday nights are very busy at the Reservations Center because people call while driving looking for a hotel room.

Jersey Week, all districts have Thurs and Fri off, many school districts have the whole week off. Never been that week, but being from Jersey, I can attest to the fact that a lot of families go.

This is a really GREAT question :). If we had a "Convention/Event Calendar"? It would be of GREAT value to a lot of folks :).

When I went to book our Nov 2018 trip in Nov of 2017, standard and lagoon view at the Poly were already gone. I asked the CM on the phone what was going on and he said it must be conventions. Never had that happen booking a year in advance before.

I am trying to book for Nov 8-11 and there is almost nothing available. I keep checking and there will be one room type at one resort each time I check. Hoping one of these times I check it shows one room at one resort where I want to stay!

Jersey Week. From prior experience, it's crazy crowded with people from the Garden State.

Don't forget about Veterans Day with the government holiday on Nov 12.
