What odd or perhaps "unmagical" behavior have you seen CMs engage in?

I have no idea what made me think of this last night, but I was in bed and my last trip to the world came to mind. We had gone to Typhoon Lagoon and it was still fairly early in the morning. People were still pouring into the park. We were walking along that path by to the right of the entrance (forgotten name) with that slightly secluded beach area with all the lounge chairs. No one was in the area yet. All of a sudden a life guard castmember comes running full speed down the path towards us just crying her eyes out. I mean she was really sobbing. Now I am not suggesting that getting upset about something is an "undisney" behavior, this was just the first (and only) time I had ever seen a working cast member like this. I remember thinking "She must have gotten bad news about something, and that I hoped she was going to be ok."

Other than that, my SO's brother was a castmember, so we obviously saw him involved in some "not totally disney" behavior!!! ;) I remember the time when we had gone to DisneyQuest. He wasn't working that day (he didn't work at DisneyQuest), but had gotten us in with a discount. We were upstairs in the arcade section. There was this two headed stuffed dragon thing that I "had" to have so we start to play games for the tickets. I think this ridiculous stuffed animal was something like 20,000 tickets. Well we were playing the skiball game, and it had some bonus that if you got this ridiculous score you got a 10,000 ticket bonus or something. To get the score all of your balls had to go into the "50" well this is next to impossible, but no one was around, so SO's brother climbed onto the skiball machine and just placed all of the balls into the 50 and we won!!!! Now I know this was bad of us, but I am giving examples of what I am talking about.

What CM behavior have you seen?

So THATS how people win those big stuffed animals!;) I guess I've been lucky, I haven't seen any "uncastlike" behavior yet!:D

Maybe you should ask around about the Dwarf Brawls..... ;) :)

On the MK parking lot tram, we saw some seriously bad CM behavior (a first for us too). CM #1 told a guest he had to fold his stroller or he had to get off. The guest had a terrible time getting the stupid stroller folded and sort of "half-folded" it. CM #1 said it wasn't acceptable. CM #2 overheard the conversation and said it would be alright. Well, this resulted in both CM's getting into a shouting match, including profanities. Right in front of everyone on the tram. Very un-Disney, and very crude for anyone who is employed and dealing with the public. :(

I went with some friends to Jelly Rolls one night at the Boardwalk. We were all having a good time, and I met a fellow vacationer and his freind while at the bar. There was a party down in front for the College Program kids who were "graduating" the next morning. They were all out for "one last fling".
It got late, the program kids had gone out and the men I had talked to had just left and for whatever reason (I have no clue why I did), I just felt like I needed to look out the window. So I did, in just enough time to see one of the college program kids deck the freind of the guy I met!
I couldn't believe my eyes. So I jumped up and ran to the front and told the security guard what happened. They had to file a report and all that. The girlfriend of the "decker" was upset and crying, thinking they were all going to jail. No charges were pressed as the assaulted vacationers would have to return for the court dates and it was possible that the college kids wouldn't bother to show up.
That is the most "unDsiney" behavior I have had to witness.

My kids once stood in line for a Belle and Beast autograph. The handler announced to the back of the line that he was going to have to cut off the line and that they would return later. I understand when this happens, but this time my kids were to be the last to get autographs.

The news caused a stampeed, and Beast and the handler took off leaving Belle on her own surrounded by the crowd. She felt very bad and continued to sign autographs including for my kids. I was sad because I got cheated out of my pictures. She felt bad for the kids that were at the front and had waited patiently. She was a class act, but the handler shouldn't have left her alone like that.

It's my understanding that character CMs are not to be left alone, and I complained to the management. I don't think he was doing his job since he didn't help her by handling the crowd.

I remember the Dwarf Brawl story! That was hilarious!! :D

Last October, when we were in AK, we went first thing in the morning to Dinosaur. There was no line. YAY!

When the ride ended, we asked the CM if we could ride again since there was no one waiting to take our seats. He told us if we wanted to ride again, we'd have to go out to the entrance of the ride. I looked around and asked him if that was because the non-existent line was so long. He let the car we got out of go without anyone in it.:(

My DS asked why he didn't let us ride again. I told him because that CM was a poopyhead.

I just wish that I had gotten his name. I'm sure Disney wouldn't approve of such unmagical behavior.

This probably doesn't count but our kids were doing the kidcot stations in Epcot. In Morocco, there were 3 CM's. The whole time we were there, they were chatting with each other in their native language. It didn't bother me, it was just something I noticed. DH and I joked that they were probably laughing at the "stupid tourists".

Well, it wasn't a CM, but close.

I took my oldest niece(14) Jan 1-5, 2003 and we stayed at GF. One of the special things I had planned was for us both to get a pedicure. Well, the young lady I had was marvelous. Gentle- made small-talk, but not too much.

Well, the person that my nice had carried on a full conversation with another worker in there, barely talked to my niece- didn;t massgae her legs....

My niece was sitting next to me and saw the attention I was getting. Luckily, the young lady who did my pedicure also talked with her a little and you could tell she was QUITE annoyed at the others for talking amongst themselves. I tipped my person much better. I still tipped the other because I didn;t have the heart not to.

Is that thread in the archives? It needs to be in the Hall of Fame! That was one of the funniest threads ever. That's where the whole corn thing got started too!

Someone MUST have that thread archived!

DWARF BRAWL! DWARF BRAWL! WE WANT THE DWARF BRAWL! :D

While waiting for someone to get the Dwarf Brawl thread. . . .

On one of the last trips that we made to Disneyland - we were standing in line for the Matterhorn Bobsleds. The line was being handled by only one CM and he did seem quite harried (I think they really have to pay attention to how they load those bobsleds - distributing the weight correctly etc.) and this CM should have had help as there are actually 2 lines for the Bobsleds. One that originates in Fantasyland and one in Tomorrowland. So this CM was stressed, I'll admit.

But all of a sudden the CM began to shout and yell at some teens that were in front of us (including profanities)! At first, I thought he was screaming at us! As we were standing right behind the teens, I didn't see these teens do anything that I would consider inappropriate. But the CM just freaked and kicked the 3 teens out of the line. It did shake me up, though - and I considered getting out of line too! But we went on the bobsleds as planned.

I considered reporting it at City Hall on the way out (but from the perspective that the CM should not have been loading the bobsleds by himself - as this was a very stressful (obviously) situation for him to be in) - but in the end, I decided not to as I thought it might be misinterpreted.

This wasnt funny behavior in any way. It actually upset me.
A Disney busdriver was very overfriendly to DD. He kept wanting to touch her and pick her up and it bordered on very creepy. The final straw was when he wanted her to stand next to him as he drove the bus. She was 6 at the time.
Before anyone says he was just being friendly- speaking as a parent, believe me when I say this seemed way over the top and abnormal.

At 'Ohanas a couple next to us were seated. They easily weighed at least 300 lbs. each.
The waitress asked them if they had ever ate there before, they said yes. She said, " good then you know how this works. I don't want you to eat so much that you throw up on me"!!!
If they were thin, I doubt she would have said anything.
The couple were nice and polite and said nothing,

Hmm. I've had that same comment, or similar to it, made to me at Ohana and I'm thin. Maybe it's just a joke that the wait staff uses. Or maybe it really happened once. I know I've eaten so much there I've felt like throwing up afterward...

We were at Dixie Landings (at the time) and a middle aged cast member was working at the marina. We were waiting to rent a boat and he began railing against Michael Eisner in a very public way. He loudly said that Walt's attitude was "save for a life time and come to Disney", Eisner's attitude was "come to Disney and pay for it the rest of your life". He railed against guests who wanted to rent a boat at a "fake marina and sail down a drainage ditch" to a retention pond". He must have gone on for five minutes. At that point I said, why then don't you get a "real" job instead of being fake marina boat renter?

I've actually had 2 rather un-Disney experineces, and both were with bus drivers.

The first was a few years ago, when a group of us were on a bus. My frined siad something to the effect of"Patty, does Uncle Mike know we've arrived?" This guy always teases me that I should be Michael Eisner's niece for all the time I spend at WDW. Anyhow, the bus driver hears this, stops the bus in the middle of the street, looks at me, and goes "Get off." I said "Excuse me". He said "You heard me. Get off. I don'tr want any relative of Micahel Eisner's on my bus." He then proceeds to go into a 10 minute dissertation about why Michael Eisner is such a jerk, blah, blah, blah. Finally, my husband goes "Hey buddy, just drive the bus, would you' and the guy started driving again. And believe me, this guy was not kidding!!!! I reported him only because I thought that he might be a bit of a "loose cannon" and I didn't want him to be one of those people who pulls an Ouzi out of his coat and starts shooting.

The 2nd bus driver incident was this past January. A group of us were going to PI, so we picked up the bus at The Swan. When we got to the Marketplace, the driver announced that we were stopping there for a pick up, and would then porceed to the PI drop off area. He then had to load a handicapped person, which was kind of a process. Anyhow, I think he forgot to stop at PI, because the next thing I know, we're on our way to the All-Stars to do a drop off. I asked the bus driver why he didn't stop at PI, and he goes "You didn't ask". Now, I don't know about anyone else, but I have never had to ask a WDW bus driver to stop somewhere. I thought their routes were planned out, and they followed them, and stopped like they were supposed to. The worst part of it was that the guy was snippy, instead of just saying "Oh, I'm so sorry,. I didn't realize that there was anyone who neede to go to PI" or something. He just acted like I was the idiot for NOT asking to get dropped off at PI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, an hour later, after doing the whole run through the All-Stars, dropping off and picking up, we got back to PI.

In general though, I find the CMs to be great. I've been there at least 2x/year for the last 12 years, and can count on one hand the actual problems I have ever had with a CM.
